Maun is set to come alive this festive season with a packed calendar of music and lifestyle events running from Christmas Eve through to New Year’s Day, as organisers roll out diverse experiences aimed at both locals and homecomers returning to the tourism capital.
Among the highlights is You+Me and RnB – All White Activation, an instalment in the Maun urban scene celebrating classic and contemporary sounds. The activation is scheduled for 20 December, with the main event taking place on 30 December at Cresta Riley’s. The event blends music from the 1990s and early 2000s with modern influences, showcasing R&B, hip hop and house through DJ-led performances. Organisers promise smooth vibes and soulful beats, with a lineup featuring Hood, Skint and Jozy.
Beyond Maun, Vlekastti All Together Festive will take place on 24 December in Rakops, featuring Calvin Jozi, Mumsy and DJ Opza. Organisers said the festival is aimed at bringing homecomers together to reconnect during the holidays.
Music lovers will also be treated to Maun Live Sessions, which takes place on 27 December at the Power Station Maun. The event will feature performances by Ban T, Shawn Lee and PXB DJs, adding a live-session feel to the festive build-up.
On 28 December, the spotlight shifts to Corona Sunset at Lek-A-Valley, Chanoga, featuring an impressive lineup of house and electronic music heavyweights including Prince Kaybee, Caiiro, Nia Pearl and Stixx. The sunset event is expected to draw large crowds seeking an open-air music experience.
Meanwhile, Bateng Hoo Music Festival 25 is set for 29 December at Maun Stadium, featuring artists such as Coster FX, Charma Gal and Franco, among others. Lesego Mabote from the or-ganising committee of Local Ka Monate said the festival will be “bigger and better,” combining national music legends with emerging local talent, with tight security measures in place
The festive season will conclude with Maun Festive Fiesta on 31 December at Crocodile Camp, headlined by South Africa’s Nkosazana Daughters, alongside Mhitmakers of Emsakazweni, Charma Gal, Lioness Ratang and FME DJs, promising a high-energy countdown into the New Year.
Ushering in the New Year will be The Day Club, scheduled for 1 January at Cresta Riley’s, head-lined by DJ PH, Han C and Thee Buhle. Speaking on behalf of the organisers, Architects of Groove, communications manager Kgosi Leburu said the event will offer a full lifestyle experience.
“Attendees can expect games, interactive brand activations, high-energy performances and a live DJ lineup,” Leburu said, adding that a live DJ competition powered by Orange will also debut. “It’s a full day of music, movement and immersive brand experiences designed for all-round enjoyment.”
Leburu noted that the event places strong emphasis on local talent. “We have two local DJs from the Maun and North West District area joining the lineup, to be officially announced, as well as two upcoming DJs who will battle live for a P5,000 prize,” he said. Security, he added, will be handled by trained local teams with marshals stationed across key points of the venue.
