- Deceased and Tanzanian colleague robbed at gun point

Two truck drivers who had stopped for a rest along the A33 road between Nata and Kazungula were on Sunday evening attacked by unknown armed assailants who shot and killed the Zimbabwean, while his Tanzanian colleague was injured.
According to District No7 Acting Officer Commanding Superintendent Kgotlaetsile Oodira, the victims, both aged 45, were both drivers of a truck that was transporting goods from South Africa to Zambia.
He confirmed that they have launched an investigation into the robbery which occurred some 72 km before Pandamatenga village along the A33 road in the evening, after 6 pm.
Oodira stated that while the duo had parked the truck along the busy A33, the two robbers took advantage and attacked them at gun point, shot the Zimbabwean driver on the head and the Tanzanian one on the arm.
Oodira further told The Ngami Times that the assailants, who are still at large made away with a cash amount of P13 000 and a laptop.
Oodira stated that the deceased’s body is currently awaiting post mortem at Kasane Primary Hospital mortuary while Tanzanian national has been released from the hospital and is currently assisting the police with investigations. According to him, both victims are aged 45.
Oodira has since pleaded with members of the public to assist them with any information that could lead to the arrest of the culprits. Meanwhile, the police boss has indicated that this is the first incident to have ever occurred in his policing area.
