Yet Another Fun-Filled Easter Weekend!

As it has become a norm, Maun is once again anticipated to be busy, and crowded this Easter Holidays with various festivities lined up for the long weekend. In fact, there are fears among some quarters that the tourism capital may not cope with the multitudes that will throng the town, starting yesterday (Thursday).

Plans to come to Maun for the various activities are usually calendar events for many, and hotel booking are usually made way in advance. Like other Easter holidays most accommodation facilities are fully booked for the weekend. In fact, today, there is no single room available.

One of the main entertainment events that is expected to be a crowd puller is the ‘Maun Polo Affair Easter Weekend’ that is inclusive of two events being the horse race and a family fun fiesta.

Another major event, will be the Association of Non Aligned Teachers Union of Southern Africa (ANTUSA) games that has brought to Maun over 3000 teachers from the Southern African region. As part of the games’ program, there will also be a beauty pageant and a cultural night set for Saturday, April 8th.

The Maun Polo All White Picnic Affair which is headlined by South African DJ, Uncle Waffles is happening today at Maun Sports Complex, followed by the horse race event tommorow at Shashe horse tracks. This will be followed by festival starting later in the evening, to be headlined by South African based Motswana DJ, DJ Ngwazi of ‘Uthando’ fame.

On the outskirts of Maun, another after party will be held in Toteng village at the Red Lark Farm headlined by popular Namibian group, ‘One Blood.’ The line-up includes Nature Bw, KRK, Otuketjo Bw and Bale Bale with single tickets being sold at P100 each and P180 for double.

Nandi Flame Entertainment also presents ‘Easter Chillas Picnic’ headlined by Dj Zinhle from South Africa on the 8th of April at Crocodile Camp. An entry ticket of P250 is all that is need for revelers to have a great time at the event then P300 at the gate.

On Sunday the 9th, revelers will head to Chanoga for boat cruise and mokoro rides along the ever Boteti River.

A beach Family Fun Day is on the cards at the popular Matlapana beach the 8th and 9th featuring different activities that include Quadbikes at P50 for 3laps, Boat cruise for P75 for a period of 30 minutes, private boat cruising, giant pool slide at P40 per kid.

Others activities will include mokoro/canoes at P50, horse riding for P50 for 10minutes and paint ball shooting. Food and drinks will be on sale and music will be played by local DJs. Kids aged 5years old and below will get a free boat cruise.

Moreover, still on Sunday the 9th, Cresta Maun will host a ‘Jameson Takeover’ event which will start from 12 pm until midnight. Tickets for the event are already sold out.
