Xaranna Champions Of The &Beyond Social Football Tournament

Date:

In a thrilling final match of the &beyond social football tournament on Saturday, Xaranna football team staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Sandibe 3-2 in Maun. The match, a testament to resilience and determination, kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final whistle.

The showdown between the two camps began with Sandibe asserting dominance early on. Their relentless pressure led to a penalty, which they converted for the opening goal. Maintaining their momentum, Sandibe struck again before halftime, securing a comfortable 2-0 lead. With their backs against the wall, Xaranna appeared on the verge of defeat.

However, halftime proved to be a turning point. Xaranna regrouped, adjusted their strategy, and emerged for the second half with renewed energy and aggression. Their efforts paid off almost immediately as they netted their first goal within minutes of the restart. The equaliser followed soon after, shifting the momentum firmly in their favor.

As the clock wound down, both teams fought fiercely for the winning goal. In the final moments of the game, Xaranna broke through Sandibe’s defence, scoring the decisive third goal to seal the victory. The dramatic comeback triggered wild celebrations from the Xaranna side, as last year’s champions fell just short of defending their title.

The &Beyond social football tournament is an annual event that brings together teams from various camps, fostering unity and teamwork among participants. The competition, which carries no monetary prize, serves as a symbolic celebration of camaraderie, inclusion, and sportsmanship.

“This tournament is about more than just winning,” said Skipper Mareja, Regional Manager of Southern Africa in Wild impact, “At &Beyond, we have a wellness program that promotes both physical and mental well-being. The real goal is to encourage more players to connect, express themselves, and form stronger bonds that help them grow as individuals.”

This year’s tournament was part of a larger three-day event that also featured choir competitions, creating a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere where participants ranging from carpenters to managers-came together as equals.

&Beyond Travel’s Regional Manager, Riaan Venter, summed up the spirit of the event: “It’s not about who wins and who loses. It’s about us as &Beyonders being humble, coming together, supporting each other, learning, moving, and giving.”

With another successful edition of the tournament concluded, the focus now shifts to next year’s event, where teams will once again battle for pride, honor, and the shared experience that defines &Beyond’s sports culture.
