Women’s National League Title Race Tightens

Date:

The Botswana Women’s National League continued to gather momentum over the past weekend, with decisive results in the Southern Stream and the Northern Stream table taking clearer shape after reaching Week 11.

Week 10 in the Southern Stream produced more dominant scorelines as the leading contenders maintained their push at the top of the table.

Royal Fighters secured an important 4–1 victory over El Pots, while Jwaneng Galaxy delivered one of the most emphatic wins of the round, thrashing Gantsi Swallows 22–0 in a one-sided encounter. BDF XI edged a tightly contested clash against Zodiac Collabo Girls with a 1–0 win, a result that could prove crucial in the title race. Gaborone United continued their relentless attacking form, cruising to a 7–0 victory over Makgabz City.

The results underline the growing gap between the top and bottom halves of the Southern Stream, where BDF XI and Gaborone United continue to set the pace, while Jwaneng Galaxy and Double Action remain strong challengers as the competition approaches its mid-season stretch.

The Northern Stream has moved slightly ahead in the calendar, completing Week 11 fixtures and offering a clearer picture of the standings as the season progresses.

Orapa United remain the team to beat, sitting top of the table with 25 points from 11 matches after winning eight games and scoring 32 goals. Mafia Vision have emerged as their closest challengers on 21 points, showing consistent form to stay firmly in the title race.

Granada occupy third place with 18 points, while Nico United and Francistown United are level on 17 points, highlighting a tightly contested battle for the top half. Tawana Top Girls remain within striking distance on 16 points, while Western Dynamites and Eyes on the Ball continue to fight for consistency in mid-table.

At the bottom, Tsabotlhe sit ninth with 10 points, while Tornado Sporting remain winless after 10 matches, still searching for their first points of the campaign.

As the inaugural Women’s National League continues, the gap in weeks played between the Northern and Southern Streams highlights the logistical realities of launching a nationwide competition for the first time. Despite these challenges, the league is steadily building momentum, producing high-scoring matches, emerging rivalries and a clearer competitive hierarchy.

With the title races intensifying and teams fighting for every point, the Women’s National League continues to deliver on its promise of providing a national stage for the growth and development of women’s football in Botswana.
