Okavango Wilderness Safaris’ Vumbura Plains Camp has won the Elite Traveler’s Top 100 Suites Award 2024, having been listed among the top 100 most exclusive accommodations in the world.
Each year Elite Traveler lists the top 100 most exclusive accommodations in the world. According to the platform, every suite in the database hits the minimum standard of five-star luxury, but the majority go above and beyond. Through detailed analysis, the platform gives special mention to suites that meet exacting specifications for privacy, sustainability, fine dining and more.
In an interview, OWS interim Managing Director Joseph Matome said that they are very proud of the Vumbura Plains team, the wider Okavango Wilderness Safaris and Wilderness collective for making this possible. He stated that they are also very grateful for all their guests, partners and they celebrate the achievement with all of them. Matome also thanked Elite Traveller for the mark of recognition.
“Each one of our properties is unique in its design and the experience it brings. Wilderness Vumbura Plains epitomises the ultimate Okavango Delta luxury safari, offering both land and water experiences. It is as lavish and lush as its beautiful surroundings, dreamy delta waterways, green island woodlands and golden grasses, teeming with an on-going wildlife parade-ever-changing with the seasons and always awe-inspiring. This is one of our Premier Camps and thus has amongst the most luxurious offering to guests,” said Matome.
Matome noted that Wilderness won an Elite Traveller Top 100 Suites Award after submitting a detailed application form to the publication, which included all the details on the guest suites at Wilderness Vumbura Plains (facilities, activities, food, welcome gifts, amenities, staff, welcome gifts, unique selling points, location and others).
According to him, there was also a section in the application form which was dedicated to sustainability initiatives such as recycling, community and conservation initiatives, renewable energy use and environmental management systems. He said that a selection of images of the guest suites was also submitted to the publication.
Wilderness has won the award twice before through Wilderness Duma Tau in the Linyanti in 2023 and Wilderness Bisate (Rwanda) in 2022.
