VTM, Chadibe Square Off For The Premier League Spot

Date:

With Tafic and Matebele having gained automatic qualification to the elite league, all eyes are now on the Debswana First Division promotional play-offs that will pit VTM and Chadibe from the south and north divisions respectively against each other.

The promotional play offs will be played on the weekend of May 27 and June 3 for both home and away matches. Both teams finished the league second placed with VTM having garnered 43 points while Chadibe had 40.

Chadibe public relations officer Leatile Morgan has said they have started in earnest to prepare for the play-offs so that the can get VTM out of their way to the premier league.

“We are currently without any injuries in our camp and our players are motivated. They are physically and psychologically fit to stand the competition and we have already started with the preparations,” he told Times Sport.

Meanwhile, VTM team manager Boitshoko Gaegopolwe believes they will win the play-offs matches both home and away as he is confident about the quality of their players.

He said the presence of South African natives, Sifiso Myeni, Lucky Mokwena, Roii Mahamutsa and Bonki Gumende will help the local players push forward.

The team manager believes that they have the upper hand over their counterparts in terms of strength and experienced players hence he is convinced of a win.

Meanwhile it is also yet to be known as to whom between Prisons XI and Mogoditshane Fighters will join relegated Extension Gunners to the lower league. Fighters and Prisons XI are fighting to survive the axe in their last three league matches before the season comes to an end.

Fighters are second from the bottom with 15 points while Prisons XI are above them with 23 points and this means possibilities are high that both can relegate and survive at the same time should they lose or win all their remaining fixtures.

Fighters will take on Nico United before welcoming Township Rollers and away to BDF XI at later dates to be communicated.  Prisons XI are up against Security System on May 30 and will take on Sua Flamingoes on June 3 while the postponed Eleven Angels game will be communicated on a later date.
