Tshidilo, Boseja Primary School Get NBFIRA’s Support

Date:

As part of corporate social responsibility initiative, the Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority (NBFIRA) this week donated P30 000 and P20 000 to Tshidilo Stimulation Centre and Boseja Primary School respectively.

The donations were done on the side-lines of the 48th meeting of the Committee of Insurance, Securities and Non-Bank Financial Authorities (CISNA) held this week in Maun.

Speaking during the handover of the cheques, NBFIRA Board Chairperson Thabo Gaadingwe said that through this project, they want to make sure that children at Tshidilo Stimulation Centre and Boseja Primary School have even better opportunities to learn, grow, and shine. He added that when children thrive, communities thrive and when communities thrive, the whole country moves forward together.

“At NBFIRA, we do not just look after numbers, regulations, and reports, we look after people too! Especially young people like you, who are the bright future of Botswana. That’s why Corporate Social Responsibility, or CSR as we call it, is so important to us. It reminds us that success is not only measured in profits, it is also measured in the smiles we help create,” he said.

NBFIRA CEO, Verily Molatedi said that Corporate Social Responsibility is not merely an obligation for them as NBFIRA, but a reflection of their values as an organisation and what they stand for. Molatedi noted that they firmly believe that the success of any business is deeply tied to the wellbeing of the communities by making meaningful footprints.

“It is the reason why we are gathered here today to share the little we have with the Tshidilo Stimulation Center and Boseja Primary School. To uplift the children and the people of Maun, ultimately contributing towards opportunities, and leaving a lasting positive impact,” she said.

Molatedi further highlighted that their goal is to ensure that their actions resonate far beyond the NBFIRA office premises, whether it is through empowering young people, supporting education, protecting the environment, or uplifting vulnerable groups.

Tshidilo Stimulation Centre Chairperson, Mosebo Molapisi has thanked NBFIRA for the donation, pointing that as an NGO centre they rely on good gestures from donors. He stated that the quarterly subvention from the government which is very limited.

Molapisi has however indicated that due to budgetary constraints the government has reduced that quarterly subvention by almost 60%. He pointed that that the donation will go a long way in ensuring that some of the suspended services are being revived.

Boseja Primary School Head, Gagobonwe Tshegofatso said has appreciated NBFIRA for its continued dedication of uplifting the lives of Batswana through CSR. He noted that the organisation’s compassion investment in education and community welfare will go a long way in shaping a bright future.
