Tonota FC Stays Unbeaten In First Division North

Date:

Tonota FC maintained their unbeaten run at the top of the First Division North League following Match Week 15, but the gap at the summit narrowed as several chasing sides picked up crucial results over the weekend.

The league leaders were held to a 2–2 draw away to Sankoyo Bush B FC on Saturday, 7 February, a result that saw Tonota move to 35 points from 15 matches. While they remain the only unbeaten side in the division, the draw allowed Enesia FC and Tsabotlhe FC to close in after both sides earned points.

Enesia FC strengthened their push for promotion with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over JJ United FC, lifting them to second place on 28 points. Tsabotlhe FC, meanwhile, settled for a 1–1 draw at home against Eleven Angels FC, dropping to third on 27 points but extending their solid run of form.

Ndundu Young Fighters FC continued to impress with a narrow 1–0 win over Motlakase Power FC, a result that keeps them firmly in contention in fourth place with 26 points. BR Highlanders FC recorded one of the most convincing performances of the round, dismantling Mbalakalungu SC 3–0 to climb to fifth on 22 points and improve their goal difference.

Eleven Angels FC’s draw with Tsabotlhe FC saw them edge up to sixth with 20 points, while Ferry Wonderers SC moved into seventh despite their fixture against Tshikinyega Tigers FC being scheduled for Sunday, 8 February. At the foot of the table, Tshikinyega Tigers FC and Motlakase Power FC remain under pressure, sitting on nine and 10 points respectively after 15 matches.

As the season progresses, Tonota FC continue to set the pace, boasting the league’s strongest defensive record alongside a potent attack. Emmanuel Thabe leads the scoring charts with nine goals, supported by teammates Patrick Mosalagae and Odirile Lekoba, underlining Tonota’s depth going forward. JJ United FC’s Thabang Watlala remains among the top scorers with seven goals, while Enesia FC and Ndundu Young Fighters FC are also well represented among the league’s leading marksmen.

With the top four separated by just nine points and several key fixtures still to come, the First Division North League is shaping into a tightly contested title race. As the second half of the season unfolds, consistency at both ends of the pitch is likely to prove decisive in the battle for promotion and survival alike.
