The First Division North League officially kicked off its 2026 calendar over the weekend, with Match Week 14 delivering closely contested encounters that reshaped the mid-table while Tonota FC continued to assert their dominance at the summit.
League leaders Tonota FC were held to a goalless draw by second-placed Tsabotlhe FC on Friday, 31 January, in what proved to be a tightly fought affair between the division’s top two sides. Despite dropping two points, Tonota extended their unbeaten run to 14 matches and remain comfortably top of the table with 34 points, having recorded 10 wins and four draws so far this season.
Eleven Angels FC claimed one of the weekend’s standout results with a 2–1 victory over BR Highlanders FC, a win that keeps their promotion ambitions alive while deepening Highlanders’ mid-table struggles. Mbalakalungu SC also secured a narrow 2–1 win against Ferry Wonderers SC, collecting vital points in their bid to climb away from the lower reaches of the standings.
Tshikinyega Tigers FC and Enesia FC shared the spoils in a 1–1 draw, a result that allowed Enesia to maintain third place with 25 points. Meanwhile, Ndundu Young Fighters FC produced an impressive away performance, edging JJ United FC 3–2 in a high-scoring encounter to move into fourth position on 23 points.
Sankoyo Bush B FC continued their gradual rise with a 2–1 victory over Motlakase Power FC, compounding Motlakase’s difficult campaign as they remain second from bottom with just 10 points from 14 matches.
At the close of Week 14, Tonota FC lead the standings on 34 points, followed by Tsabotlhe FC on 26 and Enesia FC on 25. Ndundu Young Fighters FC sit fourth with 23 points, while BR Highlanders FC and Eleven Angels FC are level on 19 points in fifth and sixth respectively. At the foot of the table, Tshikinyega Tigers FC remain rooted to last place with nine points, having managed only two wins all season.
Attention now turns to Week 15 fixtures scheduled for Saturday, 7 February 2026, with all matches kicking off at 15:30. Tsabotlhe FC will host Eleven Angels FC at Newtown Primary, while BR Highlanders FC welcome Mbalakalungu SC at BR Stadium. Ferry Wonderers SC face Tshikinyega Tigers FC at Prisons Ground, Enesia FC take on JJ United FC at Francistown Council Stadium, and Ndundu Young Fighters FC meet Motlakase Power FC at VDC Ground.
The headline fixture of the round sees leaders Tonota FC travel to Maun Sports Complex to face Sankoyo Bush B FC, a match that could further test Tonota’s unbeaten streak as the title race begins to gather momentum.
With the league now fully underway for the year, Week 15 is expected to provide further clarity at both ends of the table, as promotion hopefuls press forward and relegation-threatened sides fight to regain ground.
