The Exuberant Festive Season Hype Is Here!

Date:

The streets of Maun, and indeed the entire Ngamiland district are filled with excitement, as the festive mood engulfs the entertainment hub of Botswana, which is also the tourism capital. The two makes Maun the most visited, by far during the season and throughout the year by travelers from across the country and the world.

Various events that will certainly electrify Maun’s entertainment space, and also that of Shakawe, Chanoga and Sehithwa have been lined and sure to attract revellers.

There is no doubt therefore that Maun will turn into a vibrant busy street with revelers anticipated to throng the tourism capital for various festivities.

In fact, the festive mood was already hyped up by this past weekend as flamboyant DJ La Timmy alongside local DJs, Leon and Maximum filled up the popular entertainment spot, Luna Bar. The bar hosted FIFA World Cup Watch Party for the losers final. DJ La Timmy put up a thrilling performance that made the crowd go all crazy, singing and dancing along to his music and drum beats on that Saturday night.

Then on Sunday the 18th, jazz lovers were spoiled for choices as this time around beside a popular jazz night at Masters Valley, there was also the Thari Ya Sechabaa Jazz Festival and Family Fun Day that was held at Luna Gardens. The festival brought jazz enthusiasts together and the venue was packed with the audience being excited for the festival. The lineup included jazz artists like Punah Gabasiane, Nnunu Ramogotsi, Nono Siile, Rachel Taukobong, Zana Cultural Vanguard and many more.

Revelers are excited since the past 2 years was not as fun as usual due to the Covid 19 pandemic lockdowns and restrictions that dampened the festive spirits.

The second edition of the annual Maun Comedy and Music show billed for the Christmas day will bring together prominent local comedians for a night of rib cracking and music at ‘Kwa ga Ncinci.’

Hosted by YellowboneBW as an MC, the lineup includes the likes the Obza Modidima, Tshukudu, Chobolo, Lentswe the comedian, Skhati, Ouza, Big T, The comedian Tarzen, and Troy Bw.  The music performances will include the likes of Mmaabo Rock Vibes, Jeremiah, DJ Sonic BW and Tuevevaza Tuevee Njoze and other upcoming artist.

Meanwhile one of the lined up main events anticipated to be crowd pullers is the Maun Festive Fiesta 22 billed for the 29th of December at Maun Sports Complex. International acts for the fiesta that is powered by St Louis includes South Africa’s Zanda Zakuza, Khuli Chana, Tucks Senganga, Musa Keys alongside local artists.

Luna Gardens will on the following day (December 30th) host another event dubbed, Gallerz Gigg that will be headlined by the Umlando hit maker, Toss. The event will also feature locals including the likes, Chef Gustos, Chrispin the Drummer Baxon, Casper the DJ, T.H.A.B.O, Rolly Roland, Hood, Dj Shortz, OT, Moafrica, Leon, Eternal Journey, Zaze, Big Pun, Hey Nyeenah and MC MISD.

The Ballerz Gigg will commence at around 10am with a family fun day that will have kids treated to some fun-filled activities including swimming, jumping castle, water sliders and face painting.

In an interview with the event’s organizer (Ballerz gigg) Amogelang Sam, she confirmed the presence of the loveable piano artist Toss and assured the night crawlers of a top tier festival they will never forget.  Security wise, she assured that they have engaged one of the security companies and has since promised an event with security guards all over the garden to protect everyone present on that day.

Then finally, to wrap up the festive season and the entertainment calendar – a Fireworks Countdown Music Festival will be hosted at Luna Garden on the 31st of December. The festival organized by ‘Modumong Events’ will be headlined ATI. Other local artists include, HT Tautona, Jujuboy, DJ Big Pun and many more others.
