Suspected Boyfriend Killer Granted Bail

Date:

Maun Chief Magistrate Thebeetsile Mulalu has granted bail to a 33- year old woman of Sedie ward in Maun who is suspected to have stabbed her 22- year-old boyfriend to death on the 26th November 2022.

The deceased, Mpolokang Makgetho is alleged to have been found lying motionless in a pool of blood with a stab wound on his chest in the evening of that fateful day. Police preliminary investigations led them to the arrest of Keitsheletse Boemang as a prime suspect. The accused is also said to have been in a toxic love relationship with the deceased.

In her brief appearance last week, state prosecutor in charge of the case applied that the accused be further remanded in custody as investigations are still at an infancy stage. Boemang previously pleaded to be granted bail, arguing that she is the sole provider to her eight children whose father she claims has passed on.

“I understand that the matter is still fresh, however I am a mother of eight children whose father is deceased, I am the one taking care of them. Another child of mine is in junior school, and as we speak his school shoes are torn. I recently received a job offer in one of the Safari companies and was to resume duty on Monday,” the accused person pleaded.

The accused person whose plea was reserved further revealed that she will defend herself until the matter is committed to the high court as she cannot afford the services of an attorney. Her plea has been reserved pending investigations.

When granting the accused person bail Mulalu made a condition that the accused person attends all her court sessions and not to interfere with investigations. Boemang was further given bail on condition that she reports to Maun Police after every three months.
