This past Easter weekend, Maun hosted a musical spectacle like no other, as event promoters delivered on their bold promises of unforgettable performances from South Africa’s top-tier hitmakers. What ensued was a weekend of wall to wall entertainment, with every headliner delivering show stopping performances that left no room for doubt only dancing feet and overjoyed cheers.
The excitement kicked off on Friday as Minora Entertainment set the tone. Crowds gathered at the Maun Airport, witnessing the arrival of Professor, the first big-name confirmation that the weekend was going to be one for the books. Traffic backed up along the road to the stadium as fans, both local and visiting, flocked to the venue, anticipating history in the making.
Later that evening, DJ Maphorisa landed, sealing the deal on Minora’s double promise. As night fell, the stadium came alive with roaring fans, explosive lighting, and crisp sound that signaled the beginning of a legendary lineup. Professor hit the stage past midnight, igniting the crowd with classics like Jezebel and Lento, proving that his hit-making prowess remains as potent as ever.
Hot on his heels, DJ Maphorisa took command of the decks, delivering an electrifying set that had even skeptics surrendering to the rhythm. Ba Straata became the night’s anthem, as he demonstrated the raw, infectious energy that has earned him a seat among the greats.
Saturday saw the action shift to Cresta Riley’s, where anticipation for Aymos and Tuks Senganga crackled in the air. Courtesy of Havannah Promotions, the Amapiano sensation Aymos and the legendary Motswako lyricist Tuks Senganga arrived at the Maun Airport, keeping the momentum soaring.
The crowd trickled in steadily and by nightfall, the venue was buzzing. With T.H.A.B.O as the MC and a lineup of local DJs teasing the dancefloor, the energy remained sky-high. Just after midnight, Tuks Senganga took the mic and delivered a soul-stirring performance, seamlessly weaving Setswana and English in his classic tracks like 525,600 Minutes. His presence was magnetic, part poet, part preacher, as his fans bopped their heads and swayed their shoulders to the beat. The Motswako legend reminded all that he still had it and when he exited the stage, the crowd felt his absence deeply.
Then Aymos closed the night in spectacular fashion, delivering a set filled with hits that lit up the stage and kept the crowd in euphoric motion. The night ended with fans begging for more, but the best was still to come.
Sunday brought the grand finale, as Exzozo Entertainment fulfilled the final promise of the weekend. Within minutes of each other, Babalwa M and Kabza De Small touched down at the airport, signaling the climax of the festivities.
Luna Gardens was the place to be, with its lush green lawn hosting an eager audience. At midnight, the stage welcomed the soulful queen Babalwa M, whose elegant performance had fans on their feet, swaying and singing along in a shared celebration of sound.
Then, as if summoned by the music gods, Kabza De Small emerged and transformed the space into a sonic sanctuary. His seamless transitions, deep beats, and crowd engagement—especially during Imithandazo proved his mastery. At times, he silenced the beat entirely, allowing the crowd to take over the vocals before dropping it again to thunderous cheers.
By the end of Sunday night, every promise had been fulfilled. The Easter ended and The Weekender signed off.
