With only 5 matches left before the end of the Debswana First Division Northern league, Sankoyo Bush Bucks has set its target on finishing in top four of the log.

On Saturday, Sankoyo won its encounter against BR Highlanders by a goal to nil at the Anti-Poaching Unit grounds (Maun), and the win moved them up to position 7 with 19 points. Sankoyo has been showing an improved play since their 1-0 win against Mbalakalungu on February 18th though it was later walloped 5-2 by Chadibe on March 4th.

The Ngurungu boys have also found their scoring form once again through the likes of Gaongalelwe Dipateletso, Kgakgamatso Juta, Boikobo Mokoya and Nlisa Dema who scored the winning goal against BR Highlanders on Saturday. Dema also scored in their 1-1 draw against Peacemakers in Bobonong on March 18th.

Assistant Coach Likha Paphani told Times Sport that they want to win their remaining 5 games to finish the league with 34 points. Paphani is also hoping to challenge for the promotion to the elite league next season.

He noted that they have a problem of not scoring more goals in all their matches therefore possibilities of losing and drawing matches are obvious. He indicated that though teams like Mbalakalungu are dropping points they can however score more than 5 goals in a match.

“The problem is that we are not scoring, but we are coming there through the likes of Boikobo Skhokho Mokoya and Kgakgamatso Mshishi Juta and Dema,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chadibe, Santa Green and Mbalakalungu are challenging for the promotional play-offs this season. Chadibe shares equal points with BR Highlanders of 29 points apiece in second and third spot respectively. Mbalakalungu, Motlakase and Santa Greens are on 27 points each therefore the race for the play-offs are open to any of the above teams.

Log leaders, the Matjimenyenga boys have opened a 7 points gap after their 0-0 draw against Calendar Stars over the weekend. Tafic is eying to move back to the premier league this season.

At the relegation zone, Rolling Guys and Miscellaneous have a point difference with the former having 14 points while Miscellaneous have 13 points. Rolling Guys and Miscellaneous are 4 and 5 points away from the top 8 bracket respectively.

Tomorrow Sankoyo welcomes Santa Greens at Maun Sports Complex while Mbalakalungu are at Plateau prisons grounds against Calendar Stars. Tafic travels to Mahalapye to face BR Highlanders while Chadibe welcomes Green Lovers at Chadibe grounds. Motlakase are up against Rolling Guys at Oris Radipotsane stadium. Peacemakers battles against Miscellaneous and all matches start at 1500hrs.
