Following a record-breaking year, registration has officially opened for the 2026 Wings for Life World Run, with Botswana set to host its App Run Event for the second consecutive year at the Royal Aria Stadium. Thousands of participants locally and globally are expected to sign up for the 13th edition of this event, with 100% of all entry fees and donations funding critical research and clinical trials aimed at finding a cure for spinal cord injury.
Now firmly on Botswana’s sporting and social calendar, the Wings for Life World Run continues to gain momentum in the country after a successful debut in 2025. The return of the race, which will this year be hosted at Royal Aria Stadium – offers runners, walkers and wheelchair participants another opportunity to be part of a truly global movement, united by a single mission: a future where spinal cord injury no longer means a lifetime of limitation.
Inclusive by design, the event welcomes participants of all fitness levels and abilities. First-timers, seasoned runners, passionate amateurs and ambassadors can walk, run or roll side by side, contributing to a shared global cause while experiencing the unique energy of the Botswana event.
Participants can choose to join the Royal Aria Stadium App Run Event in Gaborone or take part individually using the Wings for Life World Run App. Every registration represents more than just participation, it represents hope. In 2025, an incredible 310,719 participants from around the world took part, highlighting the immense global scale and spirit of the movement.
As Botswana prepares for its second year, organisers are expecting even greater local participation, building on the strong community support and enthusiasm seen in its inaugural year. The Royal Aria Stadium venue provides an accessible and vibrant setting for participants to come together and contribute to life-changing research.
As the world looks ahead to the 2026 edition, the Wings for Life World Run continues to demonstrate the power of collective action. Every stride taken, no matter how far, brings researchers closer to finding a cure for spinal cord injury and restoring hope for millions worldwide.
