Rebuilt in a record time of two and half months, Ker & Downey’s now all new camp – Kanana opened to the guest in March this year, bears all the hall marks of luxury in safari with sustainability considerations at the core of its operations.
Kanana is located on the Xudum river system, an area rich and with wildlife offering, making the Camp with all its new features – a needed addition to the safari experience on this part of the Okavango Delta.
Sprouting from the same old location, the new Kanana has new features – all meant to ensure an enhanced and unforgettable safari experience – both in camp and out on activity.
The eco-sustainability component was not left behind in the design and construction of the new camp – this consistent with all the facilities under Chobe Holdings Limited, under which Ker & Downey is a subsidiary. From the magnificent main area– to the rooms and back of house, an attention to detail led process has resulted in all environmentally sustainable operation.
A visibly elated manager at Kanana, Joseph Michael Wellio was all happy to showcase the new main area of the new product that is Kanana.
The new main area stands majestically stands overlooking the Xudum River, and with flood arriving – gives guests a perfect view of different species of wildlife that roam the area. Clear views, spacious, elegant finishes to the décor – the main area boast of various sections that are to the convenience of guests.
The new main area has a curio shop, two lounges, a bar, lower deck, restaurant or dining area, coffee station and further down one descends to the fire place. One of the most common feature here and also a new addition is the pizza hut – where guests get the opportunity to make their own choices of pizza – come pizza day!
A new swimming pool area overlooking the open area infront of the lodge and by the main area ensures siesta times will never be the same for guests. Whether one wants to spend time away from the room: cooling themselves off or watching for a perfect sunset shot: this is the perfect haven.
The newly rebuild rooms at Kanana are an ideal complement to the safari in this wildlife rich and unforgettable indulgence in nature. Spacious, and with clear views of all around the rooms during the day – they give the guest a constant connection with nature,
According to Kanana Camp Manager, Biggy Thabare, the old camp used to have 9 tented rooms which lacked in certain areas – and the same number of rooms has been kept, and upgraded to bigger thatched rooms with additional features. One of the notable features added here are the coffee and tea stations in the rooms that come with a bar fridge for convenience.
With an offer of a wide range of activities, that include both on land and water in an area that has amazing wildlife experience, the new Kanana is perfect for that much needed safari that ensures relaxation.
