Raguin Ranks 167 Globally Following J100 Title

Date:

Botswana’s teenage tennis sensation Ntungamili Raguin continues to make history, lifting a second consecutive title on home soil, this past weekend in Gaborone. Soaring up the ITF Junior World Rankings to a new career high of World No.167 just steps away from potential qualification for the Australian Open Junior Championships in January 2026.

Fresh off his historic J60 victory last weekend, where he became the first Motswana to win the event on home soil, Raguin returned to the courts of the National Tennis Centre with even more conviction. On Saturday, he delivered another commanding performance to win the World Tennis Tour Juniors J100, defeating his doubles partner and close friend Yanael Beranger of France with a decisive 6–2, 6–3 victory in the final.

This J100 triumph marks Raguin’s second title in two weeks, and his third major win of 2025, following his earlier J100 victory in Kenya. His remarkable streak has not only thrilled local supporters but significantly boosted his global ranking moving from No. 250, to 220, then 199, and now 167. With the Junior Grand Slam qualification threshold around the top 150 and automatic main-draw entry inside the top 100, the 16-year-old is now firmly within striking range.

His rapid rise has ignited national excitement, with Botswana Tennis Association officials praising his discipline, maturity, and competitive spirit.”

The J100 final carried an intriguing storyline, as Raguin faced Beranger the same opponent he defeated 6–4, 6–2 in their semifinal clash during the J60 week, and with whom he also partnered to win the doubles event. Their strong chemistry off the court translated into a spirited yet respectful battle, drawing a large local crowd to the National Tennis Centre. Supporters witnessed Raguin’s precision, speed, and tactical depth shine through as he claimed his second trophy in seven days.

The second leg of the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors had kicked off earlier in the week with 16 Batswana players entering the J100 draw, including Raguin, who had already captured the J60 title. Their participation marks a notable improvement in local competitiveness and depth within Botswana’s junior ranks. Among the standout stories is Angela Chakanyuka, who earned her first-ever ITF Junior ranking during the two-week event a milestone celebrated by the Association.

As the nation concluded an unforgettable fortnight of tennis, Ntungamili Raguin stands as the country’s brightest beacon of promise. With his ranking climbing rapidly and his confidence soaring, he is now closer than ever to becoming the first Motswana to compete at a Junior Grand Slam.
