Orange Botswana, in partnership with the Botswana Football Association (BFA), has officially launched Season 7 of the Orange FA Cup, unveiling a P16,806,000 sponsorship package aimed at strengthening football development across the country.
The launch marks the return of one of Botswana’s most prestigious knockout competitions, with 48 teams set to battle it out from February through to July 2026. A live draw conducted at the launch determined the Last 48 fixtures, officially setting clubs on the road to the grand finale where the Season 7 champions will be crowned.
Speaking at the launch on Friday, Orange Botswana Public Relations and Communications Manager, Tebogo Nadisah said the tournament continues to serve a broader national vision.
“Season 7 is not just another edition. It is a continuation of a vision where football belongs to everyone, where opportunity reaches every corner of the country, and where the next generation of Botswana football legends can emerge and shine,” she said.
The competition will see teams from both the northern and southern regions compete in high-stakes knockout fixtures. In the South, ties include Ghanzi Swallows against Mountain Birds FC, Holy Ghost FC taking on Notwane FC, and Jwaneng Young Stars facing Dinare. Tlokweng United meet Police XI, while Molepolole SC clash with Lokgwabe United.
The North promises equally compelling encounters, with Tonota FC set to face United Hotspurs FC, Ndundu Young Fighters locking horns with Eleven Angels, and Motlakase Power Dynamics battling Shooters Roki FC. Other fixtures include Ferry Wanderers against Sankoyo Bushbucks and Sowa United taking on VTI Highlanders.
The tournament is scheduled to kick off later this month and will culminate in July, promising months of intense football action and opportunities for lower-division and elite sides alike to make their mark on the national stage.
Season 7 follows a memorable conclusion to Season 6, where Jwaneng Galaxy were crowned champions after a commanding 2-0 victory over Security Systems. Goals from Nqobizitha Masuku and Thabang Sesinyi secured the title, reaffirming Galaxy’s dominance in domestic cup football.
Despite narrowly missing out on the league title and finishing fourth in the standings, Galaxy ended their campaign on a high. Lesotho international midfielder Neo Mokhachane added silverware to his season, while captain Thabo Leinanyane famously lifted the trophy, receiving it from BFA President Tariq Babitseng in a moment that symbolised leadership and resilience.
With defending champions Galaxy looking to assert their authority once again, and ambitious challengers eager to dethrone them, Season 7 of the Orange FA Cup is poised to deliver drama, upsets and unforgettable moments as Botswana’s football fraternity rallies behind the beautiful game.
