Ngurungu Off To A Rough Start

Date:

Sankoyo Bush Bucks has gotten off to a rough start this 2022/23 season, registering two draws and a loss in their three first matches.

On Saturday Ngurungu lost 2-0 against Chadibe, this is after assistant coach Paphani Likha’s boys previously registered 1 all draws against Tafic SC and Mbalakalungu FC respectively.  The club ended week three (3) in position 8 with 2 points from 3 games played.

Over the weekend, Sankoyo who started the game on a high tempo failed to capitalise on counter attacks which were a result of the club’s two center forwards piling pressure on the visiting club towards the end of the first half. This was after Chadibe scored its first goal to end the lap leading 1-0.

Chadibe then started the second half in full swing displaying more creativity going forward, nearly scoring their second goal, only to see the ball over the crossbar. Sankoyo had to chase the ball the entire second half with Chadibe scoring their second goal through Moses Nyathi in the dying minutes of the game to make it 2-0 to the disappointment of Ngurungu’s diehard fans.

Ngurungu fans believe more of box to box players are needed for them to score more goals and collect the much needed points. They also criticised that the tactics used by the coaches have not yielded results so far, and have since called for change in the approach.

Sankoyo assistant coach Paphani Likha believes his boys played well despite their loss against Chadibe. According to him, the goalkeeper was not up to the match owing to the pressure of the game being his first since the beginning of the league.

“Our first choice goalkeeper is on a suspension due to the red card he got from Kasane against Mbalakalungu, so the boy we used today was not in his best form, hence he conceded those easy goals. But we are certain we will bounce back soon,” he said.

Sankoyo heads to Palapye this weekend to face Motlakase Power dynamos who are on a form following a 2-0 win against Peacemakers, while Chadibe will welcome Santa Green at Chadibe grounds, and all games starts at 1600hrs.
