Ndundu FC Through To The Regional Play-Offs

Ndundu Young Fighters FC is now through to the Nhabe regional football league play-offs after being crowned champions of the Division 1 Shakawe stream this past weekend.

Coach Baboloki Chalashika’s boys became champions following their 3-0 victory against the defending champions, Mohembo United. The regional play-offs are scheduled for Gumare from the 17th-18th June 2023 and Ndundu will face team from the Gumare and Maun streams.

The club finished on top of the log with 46 points garnered from the 21 games played out of which it won nine, lost one, and drew three. Should they win the regional play-offs the club will then move to represent Nhabe at the First Division North promotional play-offs.

In an interview, Chalashika shared that at the commencement of the season their main plan was to win all the games in the first round, something they were able to achieve, losing only three games and drew three in the second round.

Chalashika noted that the hard work and collaboration between players and the club’s management also played a pivotal role in their victory. “We will continue to work hard as we prepare for the regional play-offs and our main aim is to represent Nhabe Region at the Debswana First Division Northern League in the next season,” the coach told Times Sport.

The Shakawe Stream pitted a total of 12 teams including Ndundu Young Fighters FC, Mohembo Sporting FC, The Lords FC, Blue Waters FC, The Lion FC, Ndangu City FC, Samochina United FC, Gold Stars FC, Fisheries FC, Delta Soccer Stars FC and Delta Fighters against each other.

In the previous season, the stream was represented by Mohembo United at the regional play-offs where they faced Western Dynamites from Maun Stream and Etsha Morning Stars from Gumare stream respectively. Etsha Morning Stars were crowned the Nhabe Region Division 1 league champions and they went through to the First Division North Promotional play-offs where they lost.

Meanwhile, the Nhabe Region Division 1 League games are still on going in other streams with the Gumare Stream currently led by City Kings FC with 40 points from the 17 games played out of which they won 12, drew four and lost one. Springbok FC are leading the Maun Stream with 48 points from the 21 games played out of which they won 15, drew three and lost three.
