The Minister for State President, Defence and Security, Moeti Mohwasa, has commended Halfway Toyota Ngami for its investment in Maun, noting that the move supports a broader ecosystem of tourism operators, transport services, small businesses, and local communities.
Speaking during the dealership’s grand opening in Maun last week, Mohwasa stated that the investment is about more than business expansion; it enables the movement of people and goods while strengthening connectivity in a region critical to the national economy. He highlighted the event as a testament to Botswana’s progress and the private sector’s vital role in the nation’s development journey.
“Let this facility stand not just as a place of business, but as a symbol of progress, partnership, and the Botswana we are determined to build—diversified, resilient, and full of opportunity,” Mohwasa said, emphasizing the need for collaboration between government and the private sector.
Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Pius Mokgware, also attended and praised the company for its immediate compliance with minimum wage standards and its inclusion of persons with disabilities in various roles.
“I was reliably informed that the company has introduced an eight-hour shift system, which I commend,” Mokgware noted. “This aligns with my intention to influence a 24-hour economy, providing better service for customers and development for employees after hours.”
He added that the Halfway Group, which employs over 180 people across Kasane, Maun, and Serowe, is actively fulfilling its responsibility toward labour promotion and social security.
Halfway Group Botswana CEO, Riann Grobbler, described the opening as a milestone defined by vision and resilience. He noted that the company’s mission is to provide world-class, reliable automotive solutions tailored specifically to the needs of the Ngamiland region. “Beyond vehicles and services, our deeper ambition has always been to build relationships, empower mobility, and contribute meaningfully to the local economy,” Grobbler said
