Moeti United Football Club has initiated a transformation phase for its ladies division as it aims to reclaim its competitive edge in the Nhabe Region Women’s League after three season-hiatus.
The structural reset centers heavily on the appointment of Coach Amogelang Moatlhodi, a tactical leader tasked with restructuring the squad from the ground up. Moatlhodi holds a CAF B Coaching Licence and CAF C Coaching License.
Moatlhodi has served as a Head Coach at Western Dynamites Ladies Team, Assistant Coach at the Northern Block Under 15 Girls competition in 2024, as well as under the Reba Bona Ha programme.
In an interview, the ladies team Coach Moatlhodi said that they are looking for footballers, whether new to the game or already experienced to become part of a friendly, supportive squad that values teamwork, respect, passion, professional development and fun.
She called on interested footballers to join their under 15s and senior ladies teams for the upcoming Nhabe Regional Football Association 2026/2027 season women’s league.
Moatlhodi noted that this will give the female players an opportunity to be engaged, reducing idle time and exposure to risky situations.
“Soccer helps girls develop confidence to make informed decisions and say no to unwanted or unsafe sexual activity. Coaches, senior players, and mentors can encourage girls to focus on education, sport, and future goals,” she said.
She further highlighted the importance of participating in football, citing that it improves decision making, creates a supportive peer group, encourages education, raises future aspirations, and provides access to trusted adults.
Moatlhodi noted that shortage of women’s football teams in the Nhabe Region is a challenge therefore the revival of the Moeti United ladies team will increase the number of active teams in the region.
For the past years there has been a decline in the number of women’s teams participating in the regional league, in the previous season only three teams participated in the league and these included City Kings, Wild Dogs and Saint Daniels.
Moatlhodi has encouraged those interested in joining the club to attend the weekly training sessions at Moeti United Ground.
