Maun’s Delta Palms Mall Opens Next Week

Date:

The much awaited state of art mall, ‘Delta Palms Mall,’ which will be the biggest in the tourism town is to be opened on Thursday next week.

Once open, the mall, whose construction commenced in February last year will create opportunities for new businesses as well as job opportunities through the different shops that will operate from the facility.

Delta Palms Mall Director, Nico Janse Van Rensburg revealed that the construction phase of the project created more than 250 jobs, while 180 jobs are expected to be created upon its operation.

Van Rensburg has also indicated that there are already 11 confirmed shops that will be operating at the mall with Spar being the anchor shop, with only a few yet to confirm.

He further highlighted that the mall offers a convenient alternative to the conventional shopping mall experience in the village. According to him, the mall which is located along Sekgoma road opposite Parkview Mall is ideal to do shopping for everyone including those visiting Maun, adding that it also caters for day-to-day delights and life’s special indulgences.

“I have been in Maun for more than 20 years and I saw the need for a shopping mall out of main town to divert the traffic as well as to have a one stop mall where people can get their daily shopping services,” Van Rensburg stressed.

The mall, he stated brings an up-market retail architecture to Maun, not only focusing on bringing top end construction but also on building the community. He added that they also wanted to build a foundation for new age trading, global synergy and tourism driven work ethics.

Meanwhile, Van Rensburg revealed that they have experienced many challenges throughout the construction process among them problems in the transportation of building materials. “The materials became more expensive with the unforeseen fuel prices going up as well as steel prices that went up,” he explained. He added that Covid- 19 also had a negative impact on the health of their workers.
