- offers essential services for safe travel
Maun’s newest healthcare facility, Maun Travel Clinic officially opened its doors last week, promising to provide specialised travel health services to the community and visitors alike.
Founded by renowned physician, Dr Benard Morapedi, the clinic aims to meet the growing demand for travel-related healthcare in the region.
Speaking to this publication in an interview, Dr Morapedi highlighted that travel clinics play a critical role in preparing travellers for international trips by offering vaccinations, health advice, and preventive care tailored to specific destinations.
“Our clinic is designed to help travellers stay healthy before, during, and after their journeys. We provide essential vaccinations and personalised consultations to ensure safety abroad,” he emphasised.
Located conveniently in Maun’s New Mall, the clinic is fully equipped with consultation rooms and laboratory facilities, enabling timely diagnosis and treatment. Dr Morapedi highlighted the importance of the clinic, noting that “with Botswana becoming more connected globally, it is vital to have a reliable centre where travellers can access professional travel health services. This clinic fills a gap in our community.”
The Maun Travel Clinic offers a variety of vaccinations, including Yellow Fever and Malaria Prophylaxis among others. It also provides health screenings and travel advice customised to each individual’s destination and health profile.
Morapedi emphasised the clinic’s commitment to service excellence, stating, “we strive to provide accurate information and quality care. Our goal is to make travel safer and more enjoyable by minimising health risks.”
He explained that while Maun Travel Clinic primarily specialises in travel-related health services, it has expanded its offerings to include general health consultations for the public.
“Although our main focus is on preparing travellers with vaccinations and advice, we are medical doctors equipped to provide essential healthcare for a wide range of ailments,” he said, emphasising the clinic’s commitment to serving the broader health needs of the community.
Morapedi also highlighted that as a physician in the region, it places Maun Travel Clinic at a distinct advantage as he is able to personally attend to patients’ needs and when necessary, refer or admit them to other healthcare facilities for further treatment, ensuring comprehensive care for the community.
Residents and visitors in Maun can now access expert travel health services locally, avoiding the need to travel long distances for specialised care. The clinic’s opening marks a significant step forward in enhancing community health services in the area.
