…… he reportedly identified himself as Peter Mmusi Moyo of Gambule village
Maun Police have appealed for the public’s assistance in identifying the body of a man who was recently found dead in his rented home at Kubung Ward in Maun.
According to Maun Police Station Commander, Dennis Zilawe, the deceased’s body was found in an advanced state of decay suggesting that he may have passed away from natural causes. The deceased, only known as Peter Mmusi Moyo to his landlord was reportedly in his late 30s to early 40s.
The discovery according to him, was made by the landlord and other tenants who noticed flies around the deceased’s room as well as a foul smell emanating from the area. They proceeded to check the door and found it locked.
They then notified the police who upon arrival broke into the room where they found the deceased’s body on the floor.
The landlord recalled that the man rented the property since September 2022 and he identified himself as Peter Mmusi Moyo from Gambule Village. However, after making some inquiries in Gambule, Zilawe said no one recognized him in the village.
He said Moyo was last seen was on October 30, the day of Botswana’s elections. Zilawe has since urged anyone with information that could help identify the deceased and help with his background to come forward.
He noted that the deceased’s body is currently kept at a mortuary awaiting identification by the family. The Station Commander has however stated that the body will not be kept for a long time because of its state. He noted that they will be forced to bury the body with or without the deceased’s family members.
