Maun Police Investigate Two Murder Cases

Date:

Maun police are investigating two separate suspected murder cases that occurred in Shashe and Sedie wards respectively over the weekend.

In one incident a 33-year-old woman of Sedie Ward has been arrested in connection with the death of 22-year-old man who was found dead inhis  house, with a wound on his chest. Maun Police Station Commander, Superintendent Chenamo Orateng confirmed that a bloody knife suspected to be the one used to stab the deceased was also found at the scene.

According to Orateng, they received a report on Saturday 26th at around 10 pm over a phone call that a man was found lying unconscious in his house in Sedie Ward.  Orateng said the police went to the scene and immediately rushed the young man to Letsholathebe II Memorial Hospital where he was certified dead.

Orateng could not confirm nor deny reports that the suspect and the deceased were in a love relationship but only indicated that the two were living in the same neighborhood.

However, some close family members have alleged that the two were in an abusive relationship, claiming the families of the two would convene meetings in attempt to resolve their issues but failed.

Orateng has however noted that they did not get any reports of abuse from the suspect that indicated that she was regularly abused or threatened by the deceased. He further said that the deceased’s body is awaiting postmortem that will reveal the exact cause of his death.

In another incident, police have launched a manhunt for four men who are alleged to have killed a 36-year-old man of Shashe Ward this past Sunday. According to Orateng, the deceased was found lying on the ground with severe multiple wounds all over his body. The matter was reported to the police by a passerby who witnessed the brutal attack on the deceased. Orateng said that the motionless body was rushed to Letsholathebe II Memorial Hospital where it was confirmed dead.

According to Orateng, the suspects were reported to have previously been searching for the deceased before they found him. He said that they are still investigating to establish what really transpired that could have led to the brutal killing of the man. The police boss further said that they are waiting for the autopsy results to reveal the deceased’s cause of death.
