Maun Police have arrested four men in connection with the suspected murder of a 33-year-old man of Boseja ward, following an incident that has left the community shocked and calling for improved safety in the area.

Confirming the incident, Station Commander Superintendent Joseph Lepodise said the police received the initial report from a 33-year-old man who is not only a resident of Boseja but also a close friend of the deceased. According to Lepodise, the friend informed the police that he had been notified by a passer-by who had stumbled upon what appeared to be a lifeless body lying beside the road in Boseja. The report was made in the early hours of November 23 at around 0225hrs.

Superintendent Lepodise explained that upon receiving the information, at team was immediately dispatched to the scene and upon arrival found the deceased lying motionless with injuries that raised suspicion of foul play. The officers then transported the man to Letsholathebe II Memorial Hospital for further assessment where he was certified dead.

Following their preliminary investigations, the police arrested four men, all residents of Boseja ward, as suspects in the murder. The suspects are aged between 21 and 30. Superintendent Lepodise said that while the arrests have been made, investigations are still ongoing to establish the exact circumstances that led to the murder, including the motive and whether more people may have been involved.

He appealed to members of the public to continue assisting the police with information, noting that community cooperation often plays a crucial role in resolving such cases.

Meanwhile, Superintendent Lepodise also revealed details of a separate incident involving a suspected suicide recorded earlier on November 22. In that case, a 30-year-old man from Kubung ward was found hanging from the rafters of a house at his family home.

The matter was reported to the police by the deceased’s uncle, a 37-year-old man also from Kubung ward, who discovered the body. According to the Station Commander, no suicide note was found at the scene, and the deceased had not shown any clear signs of distress or behavioural changes that could have suggested he was contemplating taking his own life.

Superintendent Lepodise urged members of the public to look out for their loved ones and seek help early when they observe signs of emotional or psychological struggle.
