- Donates essentials worth over P3,000 to Letsholathebe II Memorial Hospital
The newly formed Maun Lawyers Association has extended a helping hand to Letsholathebe II Memorial Hospital, donating necessities including toiletries, nappies, children’s toys, bathing buckets, and clothing.
While handing over the items, worth over P3,000, Maun Lawyers’ Chief District Attorney Ompatile Ngoma stated that the donation is their way of showing support, compassion, and spreading love.
Ngoma said the association, formed by a group of lawyers in Maun, is dedicated to fulfilling its corporate social responsibilities. He highlighted that they have previously donated similar items to Somelo Primary School, Moeti Junior School, and Morutsha village.
Ngoma noted that the association chose the hospital as a recipient because of the challenges it faces as the primary health facility in the Ngamiland region.
He expressed belief that their generous act would go a long way in assisting patients. Ngoma disclosed that as a new association with limited funds, members contributed from their own pockets to purchase the items, as they have done for previous donations.
Ngoma noted, “These items should not be considered gifts in the sense of presents, because they are not intended to emotionally affect the receivers, but rather should be seen as a form of assistance intended to help those in need.”
Letsholathebe II Memorial Hospital Superintendent, Dr Lebogang Mokotedi, applauded the association for their kind gesture, adding that it reflects the Easter spirit of sharing and sacrifice.
Dr Mokotedi mentioned that “giving is a sacrifice and is biblical. If we look at the Bible, John 15:16 and John 3:16 speak of God’s love and sacrifice—that He sacrificed His only begotten Son for our sins and that whatever we ask from Him, we shall receive.”
The hospital superintendent added that the Maun lawyers acted generously and would remain blessed, as the Bible states, “Blessed is the hand that gives than the one that receives. We are much obliged to be the recipients of this donation.”
For her part, Letsholathebe Memorial Chief Registered Nurse, Galetswesepe Ngande, stated that the donation arrives at a time when the items are desperately needed.
Ngande explained that as a major referral hub, Letsholathebe receives patients from as far as Gumare, Seronga, Shakawe, and Somelo. She added that some are brought in as emergency cases from remote areas and arrive empty-handed.
She also mentioned that some patients come from underprivileged, poverty-stricken families, describing it as a sad scenario to witness.
The Chief Registered Nurse further indicated that “some patients are hospitalised for a long time, to the point that their toiletries run out. We believe these gifts will be useful in such scenarios, and we highly appreciate your contribution.”
