Maun Independence Holidays’ Entertainment Galore

Maun is expected be abuzz with entertainment during this Independence holidays, with exceptional events and festivities that are expected to attract thousands of revelers lined up.

The festivities are set to start on Independence day eve, starting with the ‘Maun Carnival’ street parade, followed by a night of poetry for the poetry lovers, an event hosted by the Okavango Cultural Productions, in collaboration with the H&C Magazine. Maun Carnival brings 3 days of excitement, tourism and cultural promotion of the people of Ngamiland.

On the same night revelers will be spoiled to choices as there will also be a musical festival organised by Bushwheel 4×4 and Nandi Flame entertainment dubbed the ‘Maun Summer Festival’ at the Maun Sports Complex.

The festival that is expected to bring a night of the best entertainment will feature South African artists, Makhazi, Zanda Zakuza, Naakmusiq,Ngwazi, Sdala B & Paige and other local djs like Big Pun, Dj Miles and many more. MCs of the event are T.H.A.B.O, Kefus Leo and Mox.

Tickets are going for P200 standard, P300 double, gold circle for P400 and P1000 for VIP, P300 at the gate and the tickets are available at Spar and Liqourama outlets.

Head of Event Promotion Edison Nawe, told The Weekender that revelers should expect high security as they have engaged security services from Gaborone and bouncers will be positioned all over the stadium for maximum protection and safety.

On Independence Day, the 30th of September, Maun Carnival will host a family fun day at Fish Boro, ending with a musical festival headlined by SA pop duo, ‘Mafikizolo’ and local artists that include the Stiga Sola, Big Pun and Lizibo.

A one man show by DJ La Timmy is also billed for the final day of the holidays at Luna Gardens strictly featuring Maun local Djs. La Timmy told The Weekender that the event will be quite unique as it will be showcasing his talent while at the same time empowering Maun local DJs.

Ticket also covers a family fun day and a pool party which happens earlier before the festival billed for late hours. “A standard ticket will be sold at P120, double at P200, golden circle for individuals P200 granting revelers access to the stage and their own private space, and a P1000 for VIP ticket which includes some goodies and also an opportunity to interact with artists and Djs,” he stated.

 The other event to be held on October 1st, is the boat excursion as part of the Maun Carnival. It will be the final day of the Maun carnival, closing with a boat experience and canoe rides.
