Maun Hosts Inaugural ‘Fashion Week Of All Nations’

Date:

Star-Light Studio will next month bring to Maun a continental fashion and modeling event dubbed ‘the fashion week of all nations’ that aims to promote and elevate fashion design in Botswana and Africa at large.

The inaugural main event, scheduled to be held on Saturday the 5th of November at Cresta Maun hotel, seeks to showcase talent and artistic creativity of various fashion designers and models. Designs will be paraded by models modeling on a catwalk ramp where a panel of judges will adjudicate for the best 3 three designs.

Judges will be looking for the best 3 designers as well as for designs born from active imagination, showing creativity, in-depth knowledge or understanding of fabrics and excellent visualisation skills.

Briefing the media in Maun recently, Star Light Studio director Daisy Tlhabologang noted that since the event is on its inaugural episode, it will not last the whole week as the name suggests, but will only last for a weekend.

Subsequent episodes of the event will be on for an entire week with the venue changing annually. She added that the event will be hosted in different countries with the aim to market the youth’s dream of showcasing their artistic creativity.

She revealed that on November 1, a mini photo shoot with the contestants and models will be conducted, followed by a pre judging session on the 4th where a panel of judges will prepare for the main event that will be held on the 5th starting at 3pm.

According to the director, performance skills by local and international artists including musicians, poets will also be showcased to enhance the general mood of festivity and celebration.

Monetary prizes will be awarded to the outstanding contestants with the first price being P10 000, second prize P5 000 and P2 500 for the 3rd price.

Thabologang who is also the former national director of the Miss Botswana Pageant is passionate about beauty and fashion. She is also a fashionist and a super model who is passionate about seeing more fashion designers in Botswana rising to the top.
