Maun Gears Up For Explosive Easter Weekend

Date:

Maun is once again positioning itself as Botswana’s ultimate Easter destination, with a packed 2026 calendar that blends music festivals, automotive showcases and family-friendly experiences into what is shaping up to be one of the town’s most diverse holiday lineups yet.

Following last year’s high-energy celebrations that drew crowds from across the country and beyond, organisers are raising the bar with new concepts and expanded experiences aimed at attracting an even broader audience.

At the centre of the festivities is the return of the Maun Easter Experience, now in its third season, organised by Minorah Entertainment.

According to director Kilan Motswanageng, this year’s edition scheduled for April 3, will build on the success of previous years, including the booking of DJ Maphorisa in 2025.

Motswanageng says the vision for 2026 is bigger and more ambitious, with plans to secure larger headline acts and expand the festival’s international footprint. Organisers are currently exploring partnerships with global artists and agencies to create a more diverse lineup that cuts across genres and borders.

“We want to create a festival that not only attracts international attention but also becomes a space for cultural exchange,” he said, adding that collaborations between local and international artists are a key focus.

Despite the push for global appeal, organisers insist that local talent remains central to the festival’s identity. This year’s programme will include mentorship initiatives, workshops and collaborative performances designed to elevate Botswana’s artists and give them greater exposure on main stages.

Safety and logistics have also been prioritised, with improved crowd management strategies, increased staffing and dedicated medical and information zones expected to enhance the overall experience for attendees.

Beyond music, Maun will host a debut event the inaugural Maun Motor Show 2026, set for April 4 and 5 at the Mall of Maun. Billed as the first large-scale automotive lifestyle event of its kind in the region, the show aims to merge business, entertainment and community engagement.

Organised by Phamani Events Curators, the two-day showcase will feature everything from performance and modified vehicles to 4×4 builds, motorbikes, and auto industry exhibitions. Financial institutions, insurance companies and accessory brands are also expected to participate, turning the event into a commercial hub for the automotive sector.

But organisers are keen to emphasise that the experience goes beyond cars. Food stalls, lifestyle vendors and live entertainment will create a festival-like atmosphere during the day, before transitioning into high-energy nightlife with official after-parties hosted at Cappello Maun.

“This is more than an exhibition—it’s a full lifestyle experience,” organisers said, noting that the event is designed to tap into Easter tourism traffic while positioning Maun as a growing hub for automotive culture and commerce.

For families, the Easter weekend will also feature a dedicated two-day Kiddies Easter Family Fun Day at Luna Gardens on April 4 and 5. The event promises a wide range of activities including quad bikes, water slides, jumping castles, ziplining and swimming, alongside paid attractions such as paintball, face painting and horse riding.

Organisers say the goal is to create a safe and engaging environment where both children and parents can enjoy the holiday together, further diversifying the Easter offering beyond nightlife and entertainment.

With music, motors and family entertainment all packed into one weekend, businesses and event curators are betting big on Easter as a driver of local economic activity, tourism growth and brand visibility.
