The second edition of the annual Maun Comedy and Music show billed for the Christmas day will bring together prominent local comedians for a night of rib cracking and music at ‘Kwa ga Ncinci.’
The show returns this year bigger and better with a bolder line up that include Maun standup comedians and local musicians.
The show was introduced by the popular Maun comedians Yellow Bone BW, Lentswe the Comedian and the Zion gospel artist Phala Piano (PPS) with an aim to accomplish their fulfillment of encouraging upcoming artists to work hard and showcase their talents in comedy and music. All local upcoming comedians and artists have since been invited to the event.
YellowboneBW will be the MC’s of the night for the fun-filled show that is expected to start at 6 pm till late. The lineup includes the likes the Obza Modidima, Tshukudu, Chobolo, Lentswe the comedian, Skhati, Ouza, Big T, The comedian Tarzen, and Troy Bw.
The music performances will include the likes of Mmaabo Rock Vibes, Jeremiah, DJ Sonic BW and Tuevevaza Tuevee Njoze and other upcoming artist.
Comedy buffs are urged to buy their tickets early to avoid missing out on the incredible show of all times these holidays. A standard ticket will be sold at P80, double at P120, a squad ticket with 6 people at p400, VIP at P180 inclusive of a plate of food, then a squad VVIP ticket will come with a bottle of gin, 6 mixers, and ice bucket, and meals.
One of the event organisers Moratwa Nawa commonly known by his stage name Lentswe, has said the mission of the event is to showcase talent in Maun while at the same time, providing a platform for talent search in upcoming artists that may not be comfortable to come out of their shells.
However, Nawa said that since the show is self-sponsored, those coming forward as upcoming artists should know that the event is to help them rise and be available for opportunities that will arise.
For his part, Sendimba Shitah (YellowboneBW) revealed that this year’s comedy show will be quite different and better than the first one since it will be an all-night event. He added that this year they have added music to the show to also encourage upcoming artists.
He added they are bringing more performers to the event to avoid having the audience crave for their favorite comedians in their absence. He said that they are bringing a different comedy show for Batswana to realize what comedy really is and how it can differ in terms of the way artists perform using different languages and tones. He promised the audience the best comedy show that will accommodate persons of all ages.
The event coordinators have also promised tight security as they have engaged a security company to ensure their patrons and their valuables are safe throughout.
