A 22-year old man of Botshabelo Ward in Kasane has been left nursing injuries after he was reportedly stabbed with a knife by his two male friends in a suspected feud over money for beer.
Kasane Police Station Commander Superintendent James Maabong confirmed that the incident occurred in the wee hours of Sunday at a night club in Kasane.
According to Maabong, the victim is reported to have been stabbed by the two suspects who had requested him to give them money to buy alcohol. Maabong said when the victim refused to give them money they then in retaliation stabbed him with a knife. According to the station commander, the victim was stabbed twice on the right thigh and also once on the left shoulder.
Maabong said upon receiving the report, the police rushed to the scene and took the victim to the hospital. He indicated that the victim was released from the hospital after two days.
He noted that following the incident they managed to arrest a 28-year old man of Flower town ward in Kazungula and charged him with unlawful wounding. He said the suspect has since been released from police custody while the second suspect was still at large.
Meanwhile, Maabong has encouraged members of the public to avoid taking the law into their own hands when they have misunderstanding, but rather seek for advice from community leadership, relatives and the police.
