Man back In Court For Another Threat-To-Kill Charge

Date:

  • He allegedly stabbed partner multiple times at Maun Old Mall

A 42-year-old Maun man, Shandulani Masole, who was previously charged of threatening to kill his partner, appeared before Maun Magistrate Gofaone Mosweu this week facing a similar charge.

The charges stem from incidents that allegedly occurred on August 30th and September 3rd, 2025, in Shashe ward, Maun, involving the complainant, Nangana Kambathi.

According to court records, on August 30th, Masole is alleged to have gone to Kambathi’s home, accused her of infidelity, and assaulted her with slaps and a broomstick until it broke.

He then allegedly threatened to kill the complainant in the presence of her children, reportedly uttering the words, “Kana ke fetse ka wena, ke tlaa go bolaya ke bo ke siela South Africa. Wena Nangana, ke tlaa go bolaya ka go go kokotela sepekere ka hamole,” meaning I will kill you by hammering a nail into you and run off to South Africa.”

On September 3rd, Masole allegedly returned to the complainant’s home at night, eavesdropped on her phone conversation, forcefully took it, and assaulted her when she demanded it back. The accused is said to have slapped and bitten her on the neck during the altercation.

Masole, who was out on bail for the case, was rearrested after he allegedly stabbed the 38-year-old woman multiple times at Maun Old Mall. The victim is currently hospitalized in critical condition.

During his latest court appearance, the accused pleaded for bail saying that he does not know why he is being accused of such doing as he hasn’t done any.

Masole denied any wrongdoing, claiming he is being falsely accused. He further alleged that the complainant and police officers are “plotting against him” and accused her of previously pouring urine and feces at his workplace. He pleaded with the court to be granted bail, insisting that he was a suspect like any other.

In response, Magistrate Mosweu ruled that Masole’s bail remains revoked, citing the severity of the allegations and the victim’s medical condition.

“Bail will remain revoked pending the complainant’s recovery and discharge from hospital. If the accused is dissatisfied, he may appeal to the High Court,” Magistrate Mosweu advised.

Masole remains in custody and is expected to appear again in court on November 18th for a status update.
