Kings Stretch Lead In Nhabe Division 1 League

Date:

Week 8 of the Nhabe Regional Football Association Division 1 League delivered a wave of goals, upsets, and shifting dynamics as City Kings continued their unbeaten march, while TD Mambas produced the biggest win of the weekend to shake up the mid-table race.

On Saturday, Western Dynamites opened the round with an impressive 3–1 victory over Ngami Swallows, strengthening their position in the title chase. The win lifted Western to 15 points, keeping them within reach of the league leaders.

Elsewhere, Wild Dogs FC and Cubs FC battled to a goalless draw in a tightly contested match that produced few clear chances. Moeti United and Saint Daniels also shared spoils in a 1–1 draw, a result that keeps Moeti well placed in the top half of the table.

The dominant display of the day came from City Kings, who swept aside Maun Terrors with a commanding 4–0 victory. The result extended their unbeaten run to seven matches and increased their tally to 19 points, reinforcing their status as the team to beat this season. Scoring 21 goals and conceding only two so far, City Kings have showcased lethal attack and rock-solid defending in equal measure.

Sunday’s fixtures continued the drama, with CTO FC edging Delta Winds 2–1 to remain unbeaten. With five wins from five matches, CTO FC now sit level with Western on 15 points, with two games in hand—positioning them as serious contenders in the title race.

Wolfsburg SC and Megger FC ended their encounter with a 1–1 draw, a result that offered little relief for either side, both of whom remain rooted in the bottom three. The match between Springbok FC and Gunners was called off due to waterlogged conditions, postponing what was set to be one of the weekend’s most anticipated clashes.

However, the biggest statement came from TD Mambas, who demolished Maun Tigers 6–0, marking the most emphatic win of Week 8. The Mambas, who have become one of the league’s hard-to-beat sides with six draws and two wins, climbed to 12 points and boosted their goal difference significantly. Their recent run of form has propelled them just outside the top four, making them a rising threat in the weeks ahead.

In the standings, City Kings remain firmly on top with 19 points, followed by Western and CTO FC—both on 15 points—while Springbok FC continue to hold fourth place with 14 points despite their postponed match. The mid-table remains fiercely competitive, with only a few points separating positions five through nine.

At the bottom end, Wolfsburg SC, Megger FC, and Delta Winds continue to struggle, with all three clubs still winless after eight weeks. As pressure mounts, each will be desperate to secure breakthrough victories to avoid falling further into danger.

With the title race tightening and relegation tensions rising, the Nhabe Division 1 League moves into its next round with high stakes and growing expectations. Week 9 now looms set for the 20th to wrap up the year.
