Botswana women’s football teams from across different regions will battle it out in the 2026 DTCB Women’s Football Championship block playoffs scheduled to take place on 27-28 June 2026 and 04-05 July 2026.

The playoffs will bring together women’s teams from the Western Block, Eastern Block, Northern Block, and Southern Block. The regional block tournaments will be held in Tsabong for the Western Block and Serowe for the Eastern Block on 27-28 June 2026, while the regional block tournaments for the Northern Block and Southern Block will be held on 04-05 July 2026 in Maun and Lobatse respectively.

The winners from each block will secure qualification for the DTCB Women’s Championship semifinals, which are expected to be held on 26-27 July 2026 at the National Stadium in Gaborone, bringing together the top four teams. The competing teams from the Northern Block include Strong Ladies United (Francistown Regional Football Association), City Kings (Nhabe Region), Orapa All Stars (Boteti Region), The Lords Sporting Club (Okavango Region), Tutume Swallows (Makgadikgadi Region), and Panda United (Chobe Region).

The competing teams from the Eastern Block include BIUST All Stars (Tswapong), Dunamis and Daughters (Central North), Mmadinare Giant Aces (Selebi-Phikwe), and Skymates Ladies (Central South). The participating teams from the Southern Block include Makufa SC (Kweneng Region), Mazottie FC (Gaborone Region), Maletamotse FC (Southern Region), and Matebele FC (Kgatleng Region). The Western Block will bring together Ghanzi United Farmers FC (Ghanzi Region), Tsabong Red Lions (Tsabong Region), and Sand Diamonds FC (Hukuntsi Region).

The competition is supported by DTC Botswana, which this week unveiled a P1.7 million sponsorship for the 2026 women’s Championships. The sponsorship represents a P200,000 increase from the P1.5 million invested in the competition last year. This year’s tournament offers improved incentives, with the champions set to receive P50,000 in prize money. The runners-up will earn P35,000, while third and fourth-placed teams will take home P25,000 and P10,000 respectively.

Speaking during the press conference held in Gaborone this week, DTCB Corporate Affairs Manager MacDonald Motsele said the sponsorship highlighted the company’s commitment to investing in women’s football, citing that their investment goes beyond competition prizes. According to him, part of the sponsorship will be used to provide essential football equipment to participating teams at the regional level. He noted that the initiative is aimed at improving playing conditions and supporting clubs that continue to nurture and develop women’s football talent within their communities.

In her remarks, Chairperson of the BFA National Women’s Football Committee, Peo Keatlholetswe, thanked DTC Botswana for its unwavering support and belief in the potential of women and girls in football, stating that the company’s investment has been more than financial support but has been an investment in dreams, opportunities, confidence, and the future of many young women across Botswana.

“The growth of women’s football that we see today did not happen overnight. It has been built through commitment, collaboration, and partnerships such as this one. Together, we have expanded opportunities for participation, strengthened our structures, increased visibility for the women’s game, and achieved a historic milestone through the establishment of Botswana’s first professional women’s football league,” she said.
