A 38-year-old man accused in a double murder case reappeared before the Maun Magistrates’ Court on Monday, where he successfully applied for a variation of his bail conditions.
Tlhalosang Kelapile, who faces charges linked to the deaths of a woman and her infant son, pleaded with the court to be released from the condition requiring him to report to the Maun Police Station once every month.
Kelapile, who was granted bail on October 16, 2025, told the court that the reporting condition had become difficult to comply with due to the nature of his work and the long distances he must regularly travel. Pleading with Magistrate Gofaone Mosweu during the proceedings, the accused explained that he works in remote cattle-post areas, making monthly trips to Maun impractical.
“I work in the bush, so it becomes difficult to travel to and from Maun every month,” he told the court.
Kelapile is accused of masterminding the murders of 40-year-old Lesang Noga and her two-and-a-half-year-old son, Yuri Noga.
According to information previously presented in court, the bodies of the mother and child were discovered hanging from a tree at Disaneng Ward in Maun on September 19, 2025 an incident that shocked residents of Maun and surrounding areas.
During the latest court session, the prosecution did not oppose the application to amend the bail conditions. Magistrate Mosweu subsequently granted the request, ruling that Kelapile is no longer required to report to the police monthly. However, his remaining bail conditions stand. The case was postponed to August 27 this year for a status update.
In a separate matter before the same court, the prosecution revealed that investigations are almost complete in a case involving two men accused of murder.
Allen Ogotseng, 21, and Boago Molatedi, 17, both of Botshabelo Ward in Maun, face charges in connection with the death of Mofenyi Bohedile at Botshabelo Ward on December 14, 2025.
The court heard that only the Investigating Officer’s statement remains outstanding. The two accused persons, who are currently out on bail, are expected back in court on July 16 for a status update.
