Delta Spirits Target North League Final Four Glory

Date:

Maun Delta Spirits are heading into the Botswana Basketball Association (BBA) North League Final Four with confidence, as captain Moitshepi Sarefo says the team is working on key tactical areas in preparation for the decisive championship showdown.

The 2026 BBA North League Final Four is scheduled for 15 August at the Serowe College Indoor Courts, where four of the North’s best teams; Maun Delta Spirits, Francistown Heart City, Orapa Juggernauts and Serowe Reptiles, will battle for the league championship.

With the title and qualification for the national championship at stake, Sarefo says Delta Spirits are not resting on their strong regular-season performances.

“Delta is still preparing and working on a few areas, including zone defence and a few offensive plays, with hopes that all the effort gives us a good flow to our wins,” said Sarefo.

The Maun side enters the Final Four after an impressive weekend in which they secured two convincing victories. Delta Spirits defeated Palapye BIUST Trojans 77-49 before producing the biggest win of the weekend, dismantling Selebi-Phikwe Knights 129-42.

Despite the margins of victory, Sarefo believes there is still room for improvement.

“I am highly confident that the team will come victorious as number one in the Top Four,” he said. “Those two wins aren’t as good as we hoped they would be, but we plan to make better or great wins the next time.”

Delta Spirits will face a formidable field in Serowe, with Francistown Heart City and Orapa Juggernauts also having demonstrated strong form throughout the Northern League season.

The Final Four represents more than just another tournament for the Maun outfit. For Sarefo, winning the Northern League would provide a platform for the team’s next challenge — the national championship.

“Winning the Northern League just marks the beginning of our next phase, and we hope that the supporters will have our back all the way,” he said.

He also emphasised the importance of unity within the squad as the team prepares for the biggest stage of its Northern League campaign.

“The message I can give to my teammates is that teamwork and team spirit will take us a long way,” said Sarefo, ending with the team’s rallying cry: “SPIRITS ON 3.”

The Final Four will bring together the four teams that have earned their places at the top of the Northern League, with one day of knockout basketball set to determine the 2026 North League champion.

The tournament will also determine the teams that progress to the national championship, where the North’s best will face opposition from the Southern League.

The action gets underway at 9am on Saturday, 15 August, at Serowe College Indoor Courts, with the matches also available for supporters to watch on YouTube.

With the stage set and the championship within reach, Delta Spirits will be hoping that their preparation, tactical adjustments and team spirit can carry them all the way to Northern League glory.
