Clash Of Legends Receives P1.5 Million Funding From Betway Botswana

Date:

The organisers of the Clash of Legends 4th edition tournament have secured Betway Botswana as their headline sponsor, following a massive funding injection of P1.5 million towards the event.

Clash of Legends organiser Sekhana Koko praised Betway Botswana for the sponsorship, noting it goes a long way toward alleviating their financial constraints. He also expressed gratitude to other sponsors who came on board to support the committee with event preparations, advertising, and marketing.

He outlined that other collaborative partners include KaLerato Holdings, who are handling outdoor digital advertising, and Staged Productions, engaged as the official sound partners, alongside BonaLife Insurance and the Gambling Authority.

Clash of Legends is an annual tournament designed to bring together iconic soccer veterans from Botswana and South Africa to compete, showcase their enduring talent, and promote football across both nations.

The tournament is scheduled for Saturday the 20th of this month at the Gaborone National Stadium. Koko emphasized that event preparations are running smoothly, bolstered by the unwavering support received from their corporate partners. Confirming logistical details with this publication, Koko stated that the showpiece will feature four powerhouse teams from South Africa and Botswana: Township Rollers, Mochudi Centre Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, and Kaizer Chiefs.

He indicated that during the previous edition, six individuals including players and iconic late coaches Colonel Stanley Tshosane, Major David Bright, and Keitumetse Paul were rewarded with 20,000 Pula each for their exceptional performance and lifelong contributions to the sport.

Koko disclosed that the event will comprise knockout matches from 10am to 12pm, while the third-place playoff and the grand finale will take place at 4pm and 6pm respectively.

He highlighted that the matchday experience will feature live entertainment from various musical artists, interspersed with interactive betting opportunities powered by Betway. He added that security will be airtight, assuring fans and the general public of absolute safety.

He emphasised that the event transcends mere sports promotion, aiming to unite local communities, foster networking, and create lasting memories. Koko noted that the star-studded entertainment lineup features Ezra Neethings, DJ LebGee, Ayanda Ntanzi, and Culture Spears.

With immense public interest, Koko revealed that approximately 40% of the stadium tickets have already been sold. “Grand stand tickets are priced at P100, Panda stand access goes for P70, while North and South stands are selling at P50 each,” he explained.

He elaborated that physical tickets are available at Liquorama outlets across Game City Mall, Rail Park Mall, Tlokweng, Mochudi, Molepolole, and Ramotswa, or online via the TICKITO website. Koko expressed gratitude for the ongoing public and corporate support, acknowledging that ticket sales and corporate donations remain vital to the tournament’s overall success.
