Week 5 of the Nhabe Regional Football Association Division 1 League delivered one of the most explosive rounds of the season so far, producing 25 goals, six home victories, and a clear shift in momentum at the top of the table.
League leaders, City Kings extended their unbeaten run with a solid 2–1 win over Megger FC, moving to 10 points and cementing their place at the summit. Their closest challengers, Springbok FC, kept the pressure on with a commanding 4–0 victory over St. Daniels, matching City Kings on points but sitting second due to goal difference.
The standout result of the weekend came from TD Mambas, who unleashed a dominant 5–1 triumph over Delta Winds, marking the biggest win of the round and condemning Delta Winds to the heaviest defeat of Week 5.
Saturday’s fixtures also saw Maun Tigers and Cubs FC locked in a goalless stalemate, while elsewhere Western Dynamites, one of the season’s most consistent sides, travelled away and secured the only away victory of the round, beating Wolfsburg SC 2–0. Their win strengthened their position in the league’s top three, now sitting on 9 points from four matches.
Sunday brought even more shifts in the standings as Gunners delivered a statement performance, beating former table-toppers Ngami Swallows 3–1. The result pushed Gunners level on eight points and highlighted the increasingly competitive nature of the league’s upper half.
CTO FC, with games in hand, continued their perfect run by overpowering Wild Dogs 4–1, maintaining a 100% record from three matches and staying firmly in the title conversation with nine points.
Moeti United, meanwhile, quietly climbed into the league’s top half with a narrow 1–0 victory over Maun Terrors, keeping their unbeaten start intact from three games.
Week 5’s statistics reflected clear dominance from home teams, who recorded 6 of the 8 victories, scoring an impressive 19 goals compared to the visitors’ 6. Only Wolfsburg SC and Maun Tigers failed to score at home, continuing struggles that have left both sides in the bottom half of the table.
At the other end, the bottom three — Delta Winds, Wolfsburg SC, and Maun Terrors — remain winless, with growing pressure to secure crucial points as the season intensifies.
After five weeks, City Kings, Springbok FC, Western Dynamites, and CTO FC have emerged as early title contenders, but with plenty of matches remaining and the league proving unpredictable each round, the race for Nhabe dominance is far from settled.
Week 6 now looms with heightened anticipation as clubs look to sustain momentum, bounce back from defeat, or claw their way out of danger in what is shaping up to be one of the most competitive Nhabe Division 1 seasons in recent years.
