With the recent release of the 2025 Primary School Leaving Examinations results, Chobe Impact – the corporate social investment arm of Chobe Holdings has revealed a notable and measurable improvements in learner performance at the schools it has adopted under government’s adopt a school programme.

These are schools strewn in areas where Chobe Holding’s subsidiaries operate in and they include some in Chobe, Ngamiland and Okavango.

Chobe Holdings Managing Director, Lempheditse MC Odumetse was ecstatic about the improved performance of learners in these schools.

“We are pleased that our efforts are starting to yield something,” said Odumetse. Personally meaningful to Odumetse is Mathiba Primary School in Maun where he did his primary education.

Recent year-on-year results at beneficiary schools demonstrate the early impact of the programme: Kavimba Primary School – 93.8% (up from 92.8%), Kajaja Primary School – 96.2% (up from 95.7%), Mathiba Primary School 85.6% (up from 79.0%) and Nxamasere Primary School 77.9% (up from 65.5%.

Meanwhile Letsholathebe Primary School posted a decline in performance of 80.1%, down from 82.1%, but a very commendable performance.

Through the programme, Chobe Impact provides a mix of material, digital and capacity-building support aimed at strengthening teaching, learning and the broader school environment. These key interventions include: photocopying machine, toners and master rolls (supported by Canon) to ensure reliable production of learning materials, office printers and toners, photocopying paper, essential stationery for learners, internet connectivity at Mathiba and Letsholathebe in partnership with Abaricom – enabling access to digital resources.

The support further caters for teacher capacity building to improve classroom practice and lesson delivery as well as excellence awards to recognise and motivate learners and teachers. Infrastructure development, notably at Kavimba Primary to improve the learning environment. It further caters for extracurricular programmes such as Aflatoun Junior Rangers and Innovation Kgotla to develop life skills, environmental stewardship and creative problem-solving.

Odumetse noted that the combination of reliable teaching materials, connectivity, improved facilities and teacher development helps create the conditions for sustained learning gains. The great improvement in learner performance at schools such as Mathiba and Nxamasere are indicative of what targeted support can achieve; even modest year-on-year improvements at high-performing schools like Kajaja and Kavimba help maintain excellence.

“Where performance dipped, continued attention to teacher support and resources will be prioritised to get results back on track.”

Looking ahead, Odumetse has indicated that Chobe Impact will continue to work with partner organisations — including Canon, Maun Printers and Abaricom — and with school leadership and communities to build on these early gains.

“We believe that investing in schools is an investment in our communities’ future,” said Odumetse, adding that the programme remains committed to sustaining and expanding these efforts so that more children benefit from improved learning environments and opportunities.
