- a day after Group funds Northwest waste drive
- Two initiatives show the group’s push to invest in people and the places it operates
Safari Air, a subsidiary of Chobe Holdings Limited, participated in Girls in Aviation Day 2026 on September 19. This global initiative was led by Women in Aviation International (WAI) in partnership with Chiedza CheAfrica, and aimed to inspire young women to pursue careers in aviation, aerospace, and STEM fields.
The event took place a day after Chobe Holdings, through its community and environmental arm Chobe Impact, joined Kalahari Insurance Brokers and Hollard in donating 50 refuse bins and a combined P300,000 to Wild Entrust. The contribution supported a district-wide clean-up and waste management effort in the Northwest District, backed by the Northwest District Council.
Girls in Aviation Day gave girls aged 10 to 18 hands-on exposure to the industry through interactive learning stations, aircraft tours, engineering demonstrations, flight operations activities, mentorship circles, and panel discussions with women working across aviation. Participants engaged directly with pilots, engineers, flight operations personnel, and aviation leaders.
Safari Air stated that sustainable growth comes when businesses invest in people as well as operations. While its aircraft connect remote communities, support tourism, and provide access to some of the world’s most iconic wilderness destinations, the company believes its responsibility extends beyond the skies.
The preceding day’s donation was part of a wider “Bin Movement” to improve waste collection and environmental upkeep in local communities, following a recent clean-up campaign. Each of the three partners contributed P100,000. Wild Entrust is managing the bins and coordinating regular collection and disposal, having engaged local company DM Environmental to empty them.
Ibo Madandume, Manager of Chobe Impact, said the initiative fit the group’s priorities: “This initiative is well aligned with Chobe Holdings’ commitment to environmental stewardship, community development and sustainable tourism.”
Together, these two initiatives reflected how Chobe Holdings pairs its tourism operations with social investment. Safari Air’s Girls in Aviation Day participation-built pathways for young women, while the bin donation improved the surroundings of the communities where the group operates.
“If She Can See It, She Can Be It” was the theme of Girls in Aviation Day. For Safari Air, success is measured not only by the destinations served, but by the lives impacted along the journey.
