CECT Wins Truck In Absa’s Empowerment Campaign

Date:

Absa Bank Botswana has officially handed over the first business truck in its Win-a-Truck campaign to Chobe Enclave Conservation Trust (CECT), marking a significant milestone in the bank’s ongoing efforts to empower small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across the country.

The handover, held under Absa’s Your Story Matters initiative, forms part of the bank’s drive to celebrate local entrepreneurship and demonstrate the tangible benefits of saving and investing in sustainable business practices. The Win-a-Truck campaign encourages business owners to open a Business Current or Savings Account with Absa and maintain a minimum balance of P50,000 for at least three months to stand a chance to win a business truck..

Speaking at the ceremony, Absa Bank Botswna’s Head of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Rapula Leepile said the donation went beyond simply awarding a vehicle to the campaign’s first winner. “This is about stepping forward in the spirit of economic empowerment, entrepreneurship and, most importantly, promoting a culture of savings among our business community,” he said.

Leepile explained that the Win-a-Truck campaign is designed to inspire business owners to set aside part of their revenue in savings accounts, thereby qualifying for a chance to win a vehicle to support their daily transport and operational needs. “We believe in empowering people and businesses to achieve their full potential. This initiative aligns with our commitment to growing entrepreneurship and fostering economic stability,” he said.

He added that Absa continues to invest in innovation and customer-focused digital solutions, ensuring that entrepreneurs are well equipped to make their stories matter.

Receiving the truck, Chobe Enclave Conservation Trust Vice Chairperson Thabo Zambo expressed gratitude to Absa for what he described as a timely and impactful contribution. “We have been banking with Absa for the longest time, even when it was still Barclays Bank. This generous contribution will make a meaningful impact and bring much relief to our hardships,” he said.

Zambo added that the Trust runs a milling project, and the truck will play a crucial role in transporting their goods to various communities. “It is through the kindness of individuals and organisations like yours that we are able to continue our work and reach those in need. Your support not only uplifts lives but also inspires hope and reminds us of the power of community,” he said.

He further encouraged other businesses to open savings accounts with Absa and take advantage of the campaign, saying such initiatives prove that financial discipline can lead to tangible rewards and long-term growth.
