BTO Commits To Host Impactful BTTE Next Year

Date:

  • this year’s event cancelled owing to ‘financial constraints’
  • 87 exhibitors and 73 hosted buyers from across the globe had already expressed interest

Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) has assured of its commitment to delivering a strong and impactful Botswana Travel and Tourism Expo (BTTE) in 2026 after cancelling this year’s 12th edition that was scheduled set for Kasane from 26th – 30th November 2025.

The decision to cancel BTTE 2025 was taken after a comprehensive assessment of financial considerations that would have affected the organisation’s ability to deliver the Expo.

According to BTO Marketing Manager-Public Relations, Tebogo Ramakgathi prior to the cancellation, 87 exhibitors and 73 hosted buyers from across the globe had already expressed interest and completed their registration. She added that all registered participants have been formally notified of the cancellation, and necessary administrative processes including refunds where applicable, have been completed.

Ramakgathi said that while BTTE remains a flagship platform, its temporary cancellation will not hinder their ongoing efforts to promote Botswana internationally. She stated that BTTE will be back in 2026 and the organisation is working on the 2026/7 local and international calendar to be shared with the industry.

“For participants who had planned to attend, we acknowledge that the cancellation disrupts networking, contracting, and destination marketing plans. However, BTO is working on alternative engagement platforms to ensure that stakeholders continue accessing meaningful business-to-business opportunities,” said Ramakgathi.

Ramakgathi has extended her sincere appreciation to all exhibitors, buyers, partners, and stakeholders who had committed to BTTE 2025.

“We understand the inconvenience this decision may have caused, and we value your continued support for Botswana as a premier tourism destination. BTO remains committed to delivering a strong and impactful BTTE in 2026, and we look forward to welcoming all participants when the Expo returns,” she said.

Ramakgathi noted that plans to continue with facilitating industry marketing opportunities will continue to ensure that Botswana continues attracting the relevant inbound and domestic market.
