Botswana’s talented Professional Boxer Kagiso “Reptile” Bagwasi will fight South Africa’s Boyd Allen for the International Boxing Organisation (IBO) All-Africa championship title in a headline bout of the Fistic Havoc competition which will be held at The Galleria, Santon, South Africa on the 21st June 2025.
Bagwasi is currently training under Drad Boxing Gym, and this title fight marks a significant milestone in his rising career. He boasts an impressive undefeated record of 6 wins.
Bagwasi will be accompanied by another local boxer, Tefo Letshikgwane who holds a professional record of 14 fights (11 wins, 3 losses). He will face South Africa’s undefeated Tiisetso Matikinga in a non-title bantamweight bout.
Letshikgwane who is promoted by Bond Boxing Promotions is the current super bantamweight national champion 55.32kg and at the Fistic Havoc he will be fighting as bantamweight 53.5kg for the first time.
The Fistic Havoc is a carefully curated fight card featuring a dynamic mix of professional debuts, rising stars, comeback stories, and a high-stakes international title bout. It is organised by Aquila Boxing Promotions, a South African boxing promotion company.
In an interview, Professional Boxing Association of Botswana (PBAB) President Seroba Binda said that their local boxers are always ready and they always keep fit in their preparations for such competitions. He indicated that the duo maintained training tactics and did a research about the boxers they will be fighting against in preparation for the competition.
‘‘This competition is very important because it is IBO Africa title, it is only contested by African boxers, the winner will be rated in the top 10 of the IBO, putting him at the door of fighting for the IBO world title,’’ he said.
Binda noted that among all the bouts Bagwasi’s fight is very important because if he wins he would be crowned the Africa champion and that would place Botswana in the world map. He stated that Bagwasi’s win would also attract international boxing promotion companies to Botswana.
In regard to Letshikgwane’s participation in the competition, Binda said that he is one of the shining stars who continue to make strides in the regional boxing circuit, pointing that his win will also motivate Bagwasi’s win. He stated Letshikgwane is the first Motswana to fight for a national title.
“We call on all boxing fans, stakeholders, and media houses to rally behind our athletes as they proudly fly the Botswana flag on this international platform. Your support is vital to the growth and success of boxing in our country,” he said.
