As part of its nationwide engagement strategy ahead of its upcoming Annual General Meeting, Bomaid this week engaged with customers, healthcare providers, corporate clients, members of the fourth estate, and other stakeholders across the Ngamiland region. The engagements were designed to strengthen relationships, share updates on key business developments, gather feedback, and better understand the healthcare needs and experiences of stakeholders in the region.
The Maun meetings formed part of a broader national programme that has seen Bomaid connect with stakeholders across Botswana throughout the year. As the Fund approaches its Annual General Meeting, these conversations remain a vital platform for listening, learning, and ensuring stakeholder perspectives continue to inform decision-making and service delivery.
Speaking on the importance of the initiative, Corporate Communications Manager Tshepo Maphanyane said healthcare works best when built on strong relationships and open dialogue. Maphanyane noted that the sessions provide an opportunity to listen directly to stakeholders, share important updates about the Fund, and better understand how to continue improving the experience for customers and partners.
She added that the meetings reinforce their belief that healthcare is most effective when providers, employers, customers, communities, and funders work together. “These conversations are important because healthcare extends beyond funding medical treatment. It is about understanding people’s experiences, promoting healthier lifestyles, encouraging preventative care, and ensuring that healthcare remains accessible, relevant and sustainable for future generations. Bomaid’s commitment to engagement also extends beyond formal stakeholder platforms,” she said.
Maphanyane also provided an overview of the Thrive with Bomaid mobile application and the Bomaid Media Health Challenge. According to Maphanyane, “Thrive with Bomaid” is a digital health and wellness application launched by the Botswana Medical Aid Society. She explained that the application acts as a 24/7 personal health companion, allowing users to easily track vital signs, monitor fitness habits, manage benefits, and improve their overall wellbeing.
The application monitors daily steps, sleep, and physical activity, allowing users to use their phone camera to scan and evaluate their wellbeing. The app then provides users with a VivaScore to help them understand their daily health data while giving them easy, direct access to their Bomaid medical aid details.
Maphanyane highlighted that the Bomaid Media Health Challenge is a wellness initiative designed to encourage good health among journalists, including those who are not Bomaid customers. The challenge, which is currently open to all local journalists, operates through the digital Thrive with Bomaid mobile application, available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
Winners of the Bomaid Media Health Challenge will stand a chance to walk away with cash prizes: first place will receive P10,000, second place P7,500, and third place P5,000.
Meanwhile, on 20 June 2026, Bomaid, in partnership with the Dutch Reformed Church Gaborone and a growing network of public and private sector partners, will host Community Health Day. The initiative will bring together families, healthcare professionals, wellness practitioners, community organisations, and corporate partners in a shared effort to promote holistic wellbeing.
The event will provide health screenings, wellness education, physical activities, and access to valuable health information and services. It is designed to encourage individuals and families to take a proactive approach to their health while reinforcing the importance of community participation in improving health outcomes. This year’s Community Health Day will place a particular emphasis on preventative healthcare and early detection, including breast cancer awareness.
