In a heartwarming gesture of community support, eight biking clubs from Botswana and South Africa, gathered in Komana village on Saturday to donate 23 food hampers and a wheelchair to the less privileged.
The initiative, part of the bikers’ overarching mandate of giving back to communities, saw the donations handed over to villagers selected by Chief Omphile Bogoma, with the assistance of area social worker Clement Jim. The event highlighted the bikers’ commitment to hosting 12 charitable events annually, benefiting communities across Botswana.
Speaking at the village kgotla, Chief Omphile Bogoma expressed deep gratitude for the bikers’ generosity. “This kind of support is invaluable. It takes the load off the government, showing how beneficial the involvement of private and non-profit organizations can be,” he remarked. He also urged community members to embrace the spirit of giving, emphasising that government efforts alone cannot sustain the nation’s needs.
Acknowledging the low turnout, Chief Bogoma explained that many villagers were attending a funeral. Despite this, the bikers’ presence and efforts were well-received by those in attendance.
The donation event was not just about charity but also a vibrant display of biker culture. Clad in signature black regalia, the bikers entertained the audience with an exhilarating rotation of roaring motorcycles, reminiscent of a rock concert. Their synchronised maneuvers and the thunderous hum of engines brought energy and excitement to Komana Village.
Ontekotse Masedi, representing the bikers, encouraged the community to embrace even small acts of kindness.
“Help doesn’t have to be huge or noticeable. Share whatever you can, it makes a difference,” Masedi said.
The eight biker clubs, Delta Hawks, Yolo MCC, Top Gun, Lone Wolves, Metal Bikers, Phikwe Bikers, Ngami Bikers, and South Africa’s Mamenemene – later made their way to Maun, where the excitement carried on. Crowds gathered in greater numbers to witness the thrilling spectacle as the bikers paraded, their roaring engines creating a symphony of sound that captivated the audience.
Gosiame Andreck, manager of Ko Sedibeng, expressed admiration for the bikers’ initiative. “We are thrilled to have hosted the bikers and are inspired by their efforts. It’s an honor to support such impactful contributions to our communities,”
This charitable event once again showcased the bikers’ unwavering dedication to their cause, proving that a blend of passion for biking and philanthropy can create lasting impacts. With their roaring engines and compassionate hearts, they continue to bring joy and hope to communities across the country.
