BBA Gears For The National Top 4

Date:

The stage is set for the 2025 Botswana Basketball Association National Top 4, where Orapa will transform into the “Court of Legends” from 12–14 September. Four teams, Delta Spirit, Francistown’s Heart City, Dolphins, and Police, will battle for national glory, with the winners earning the coveted opportunity to represent Botswana in the Basketball Africa League (BAL).

Fresh from being crowned North League champions, Delta Spirit enter the tournament with momentum and confidence. Captain Moitshepi Sarefo believes his side is ready for the challenge ahead.

“So far the team has had ample time to work on our chemistry and coordination,” Sarefo said. “We come with the intention to progress to the next stage, and we’re well prepared for both the semi-finals and the finals. With the right spirit, dedication, and game plan, I believe we can go far.”

For Sarefo, unity remains the team’s greatest strength. “As long as we share one goal and motivation, we’ll keep pushing. With the leadership we have and the guidance of our coach, I’m sure we’ll get this.”

Their rivals, Heart City, arrive in Orapa as newcomers who have defied expectations. Just months after their formation, the Francistown-based outfit shocked the league by reaching the North League final and securing a place in the Nationals. Head coach Karabo Geche sees the achievement as proof of his team’s determination.

“To qualify for the National Championships in our very first season shows the hard work, discipline, and belief this group has carried from day one,” Geche said. “We’re not just here to participate — we’re here to compete and prove that Heart City belongs among the best.”

However, Geche also admitted the team faces financial hurdles as they prepare for the next phase. “The struggles of sports financing have been real for us. We’re in deep need of a sponsor to support our logistics. With the right backing, we believe we can carry Francistown’s flag even further.”

The buildup to the Orapa showdown has also brought anticipation of a new dimension. According to North League Public Relations Officer, Tumelo Boima, fans can expect international flair this year.

“These finals will feature an addition of international talent brought in by both Dolphins and Delta Spirit,” Boima revealed. “It’s a showcase of the vast talent the league can engage in and a sign of its growth.”

The National Top 4 comes on the back of a thrilling North League campaign, where Delta Spirit secured an 83–65 victory over Heart City in the final. Star forward Lone “Beast” Ralegoreng powered the team with a monster double-double, while the league’s leading scorer Dingane Motswadira further underlined Spirit’s depth.

The North’s emergence was equally highlighted by Heart City’s sharp-shooting guard Karabo Geche and the rise of new entrants like Serowe Reptiles, proof that the sport continues to spread and strengthen.

With corporate sponsors such as Orion X, OrapaSaccos, and Laguan Water Botswana backing the event, all eyes now turn to Orapa. North meets South, diamonds clash with dreams, and only two teams will survive the battle for national supremacy.

The question remains: who will rise, and who will fall?
