Battle Of Nhabe Streams Champions This Weekend

Champions of the Nhabe streams are headed for a battle this weekend to determine who qualifies for the Debswana First Division Northern block playoffs.

The games scheduled for the 17th-18th in Gumare at Kings Arena, will pit Springbok FC from Maun Stream, Ndundu FC from Shakawe Stream and City Kings FC from Gumare Stream against each other.

The winner from the regional playoffs will proceed to the Northern block playoffs to face the champions of the Chobe, Boteti and Francistown regions where the winner will get promotion to the Debswana First Division League.

Champions of the Nhabe streams have confirmed their readiness for this weekend’s games as they are all determined to qualify for the northern playoffs.

In an interview, Springbok FC coach Lawrence Amos said that as part of their preparations, they had two weeks of intensive training and also came up with some strategies to apply at the games. “We know we are going to face tough teams but the aim is to do our best for us to emerge victorious,” he told Times Sport.

Ndundu FC coach Baboloki Chalashika said they are also ready to battle this weekend as their main focus is to qualify for the northern playoffs. Chalashika said they recently played two games as part of their preparations for the tournament and he is happy that his players displayed a very wonderful play during the games. This he said is a clear indication that they are ready to compete.

“We want to emerge victorious so that we can go out there and represent the Okavango region at the Debswana First Division Northern League hence we will try by all means to fulfil our dream,” he said.

For his part, City Kings FC Coach, Itireleng Edward said even though they are a newly established team, their main intention however is to qualify for the First Division League. Edward stated that the management, players and supporters of the team are ready to take it to far places. He noted that his team consists of experienced players who played for different teams before adding that as a coach he will also apply his experience to make their dream come true.

In the previous season, Nhabe region was represented by Etsha Morning Stars (Gumare Stream) at the northern playoffs were they faced Zowa United from Boteti region, Dukwi United from Francistown region and Mbalakalungu from Chobe region. Mbalakalungu won the playoffs and they were automatically promoted to the Debswana First Division Northern League.
